Hello, I鈥檓 Benoit, a qualified existential psychotherapist working in English and French. I offer therapy to individuals and couples in Central London (W1T) and online via Zoom.
I aim to provide a space that feels both supportive and challenging, where you can speak openly, think more clearly, and explore what is troubling you.
I usually work on a weekly basis. Some people come for shorter-term intervention around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term work when they want to go more deeply. We generally meet on the same day and at the same time each week. I try to accommodate requests for rescheduling when my availability allows.
Choosing a therapist can feel daunting. You are welcome to get in touch by email if you would like to arrange an initial conversation.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified existential psychotherapist and help individuals and couples who struggle with:
鈥 relational difficulties or codependency
鈥 life transitions, decisions, or uncertainty
鈥 childhood trauma or painful past experiences
鈥 shame or difficulties with self-worth
鈥 sex and sexuality
鈥 problematic use of alcohol or substances
鈥 work stress or burnout
鈥 emptiness, disconnection, or a lack of meaning
I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and open to exploring experiences of identity, difference, and belonging.
Psychotherapy offers a chance to slow down and pay close attention to your experience. Our sessions are based on a different kind of talking and listening, which allows meanings and possibilities to come into awareness. Together, we will explore what you are going through, how you make sense of it, and what may need attention or change. This may involve looking at your present situation, the meanings you give to your past, and what feels possible or difficult in relation to your future. Over time, therapy can help you live with greater clarity, honesty, and freedom in relation to yourself and others.
Couples
You may be caught in repeated arguments, emotional distance, loss of trust, or sexual difficulties. Sometimes, there is only a sense that you have become stuck with one another.
Couples therapy can help you look more clearly at what is happening in your relationship. I aim to create a setting in which both people can speak, be heard, and be challenged. My role is not to decide who is right or to take sides.
The work goes beyond resolving conflicts or improving communication. It is also about understanding the underlying patterns and gridlocks that shape the relationship, and about finding a common direction.
Practice description
My approach is both supportive and challenging. It can help you feel more supported, think more clearly, and move forward. I am less interested in asking, 鈥淲hat is wrong with you?鈥 than in asking, 鈥淲hat are you living through?鈥 and 鈥淲hat matters most to you?鈥
We begin with what is happening in your life now: your thoughts, feelings, relationships, difficulties, and the way you experience yourself and the world. Some people come with a clear issue; others come only with a vague sense that something is not right. Therapy can help give shape and language to something that has not yet been fully understood.
I will not impose answers, but help you explore your life more honestly and see what may need attention or change. I also do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Some people need time to reflect on long-standing patterns. Others need support to stay close to painful feelings they usually avoid. Still others come with a specific crisis, conflict, or decision and want to understand more deeply what is at stake.
Therapy unfolds through the relationship as much as through insight. Feeling heard can make it easier to approach parts of yourself that may have felt hidden, confusing, or hard to bear. At the same time, the process may also involve questioning patterns and ways of coping that no longer serve you.
I draw on existential philosophy, phenomenology, and psychology. I pay attention to the deeper questions and tensions that shape our lives: freedom and responsibility, choice and uncertainty, intimacy and separateness, mortality, and the search for meaning.
About me
I hold an MA with distinction from the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent鈥檚 University London.
Psychotherapy is my second career. I also hold an MBA from HEC School of Management in Paris and previously held senior management positions in the beauty and fashion industry.
I have been married to my husband for nearly twenty years, and we have three children.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute confidential consultation on Zoom for potential clients. This gives us a chance to meet, for you to get a sense of me and how I work, and for you to ask any questions you may have.
There is no obligation on either side after this consultation. If it feels right to continue, we can then arrange a first session.
