About me and my therapy practice

At Arise Therapies, I support women navigating the deep and often hidden impact of developmental trauma and attachment wounds, especially where early experiences have shaped how you see yourself, others, and God.

Many of the women who come to therapy with me are thoughtful, capable, and deeply caring. They may be active in their communities or church and often find themselves as the one others rely on. Yet privately they can feel insecure, emotionally unsettled, or quietly burdened by a sense of not quite being 鈥渆nough.鈥

You may be seeking therapy because something doesn鈥檛 feel quite right. Perhaps you struggle to trust others or feel worthy of love. You might notice anxiety in relationships, difficulty receiving support, or a sense of emotional distance 鈥 even in your faith. You may long for closeness with God, yet part of you still expects rejection, silence, or abandonment.

If this resonates, you are not alone. Many of the patterns that bring people to therapy are understandable responses to earlier experiences.

Clients I work with often describe feeling:

  • Like they are 鈥渢oo much鈥 or not enough for the people around them or for God
  • Responsible for holding everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed
  • Spiritually stuck or disconnected, even though faith is important to them
  • Caught in cycles of over-functioning, perfectionism, or self-blame
  • Lonely in their struggles, unsure how to reconcile faith with their emotional pain

Often these patterns have roots in early environments where love felt conditional, emotions were dismissed, or safety was unpredictable. Over time, these experiences can shape our nervous systems, our sense of self-worth, and the way we relate to others and to God.

Therapy offers a space to gently explore these patterns with compassion and curiosity. As we begin to understand how these early experiences have shaped your story, it becomes possible to develop greater emotional safety, healthier relational patterns, and a more grounded sense of worth.

Practice description

The name Arise Therapies is inspired by Song of Solomon 2:10鈥13, where God calls His beloved out of hiding:

鈥淎rise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away鈥︹

For me, this reflects the heart of therapy: a gentle invitation to step out of patterns of shame, fear, or survival and into greater safety, freedom, and connection.

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, which means I draw from several approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. My work is particularly informed by attachment theory and trauma-informed practice, helping us explore how early relational experiences may have shaped your sense of self, your relationships, and even your experience of God.

In our work together we may gently explore relational patterns, the impact of early experiences, and how emotions and beliefs about yourself have developed over time. I also integrate body awareness and somatic approaches where helpful, recognising that trauma and emotional pain are often held not only in our thoughts but in our nervous systems and bodies.

Faith can be an important part of many people鈥檚 healing journeys. If your Christian faith is meaningful to you, we can thoughtfully integrate it into therapy in ways that feel supportive rather than pressured. At the same time, you are always welcome to bring your questions, doubts, and uncertainties.

My aim is to offer a compassionate, steady space where you can explore your story at your own pace and begin to experience greater safety, connection, and a more grounded sense of self-worth.

My first session

Our first meeting will always be a free introductory video call which allows us to get a better sense of each other to decide if we are a good fit for your therapy. If we decide to move forward, I will ask you to review a contract, fill in an online client registration form and book in your first session.
