About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Samantha.
Thank you for visiting my profile and welcome to SAM'S Therapy - therapy that is supportive, accepting, meaningful and safe.
I work as an integrative therapist, trained in Existential, Psychodynamic, CBT and humanistic modalities. This means I can provide a holistic course of therapy with you at the heart of everything.
I work both privately and in the NHS secondary care (dealing with trauma) with experience in both short-term interventions and long term therapy. I have also worked with charities like Sussex Prisoners' Families specialising in trauma, and BHT Sussex within Moatfield Surgery in their Emotional Wellbeing Service dealing with low level mental health problems in NHS Primary Care. I have supported clients with a diverse range of problems, from generalised anxiety to suicidal thoughts and ideation, along with clients who are neurodivergent.
I co-facilitate a women's anxiety group in East Grinstead called 'Anxiety & Me' offering support and strategies at monthly meetings.
An initial telephone call is free of charge for me to find out what brings you to therapy, your previous experience of therapy and what you are looking for. From there, sessions can either be online by video or in person.
Practice description
My aim is for us to build a trusting relationship where you can process what has happened, find meaning and work towards acceptance before moving forward in life.
I will listen without judgement, be curious, gently challenging contradictions and empower you to begin your journey to recovery. Some sessions will be you doing most of the talking, others will be me offering timely interventions designed to make you think and find meaning. I will always check my understanding before making an intervention so please feel free to correct me if I have misunderstood something.
Therapy can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on the presentation and risk. I will offer my recommendation, however the choice is yours.
My first session
After our introductory call, the first session is designed for me to get to know you and what is troubling you. You may find it helpful to give me your history, or you may want to just talk about what is troubling you most and what you would like life to look like in the future.
We will discuss your therapy goals, and how you will know when you have reached them.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes, with the remaining 10 minutes for me to make notes.
