About me and my therapy practice

I am trained in Integrative counselling, which  means I can draw on a range of ideas to support our work together. I commit to providing a compassionate environment where you can feel valued and accepted. From this place of safety, together we can begin to explore what is going on for you. Counselling is a space for you to have the conversations that are important to you. It is a space where your thoughts and feelings, your past, and your patterns of behaviour can be explored. This can be key to unlocking one of the most powerful things - a greater understanding of the self.

I am able to communicate in English and British Sign Language. I have a Level 6 BSL qualification. I have extensive experience of working with d/Deaf individuals which has provided me with a good insight into d/Deaf culture and the additional barriers d/Deaf people face.

I have additional understanding of the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals.

I work with both adults and young people aged 9 and above. I have completed the CPCAB Level 5 Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working with d/Deaf children and young people, both in mainstream and specialist settings. Throughout that journey I worked with many neurodivergent young people. I have personal experience of neurodivergence within my family. I currently work as a Children and Young People’s counsellor both with Mind and with an organisation which specialises in supporting neurodivergent individuals.

I am committed to providing an inclusive, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice. I am gender-affirming and welcome people of all genders and sexualities.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face sessions at the peaceful setting of Oak House Studio and Therapies in Hatfield. There is a free car park and toilet facilities on site. Hatfield train station is just a 15 minute walk away.

I also work online.

Sessions can be short-term or long-term, depending on your needs and situation. Sessions are 50 minutes and are usually held weekly and at the same time each week.

My first session

I offer a free initial 20 minute conversation for you to tell me a bit about yourself/your young person and to briefly outline the reasons for seeking counselling. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about counselling or the way I work.

If you decide to go ahead, in the first full session I will be seeking to understand more about you/your young person and this will involve me asking some questions and taking notes.
