About me and my therapy practice

My London-based practice is open to adults, families, and couples, as well as children (8+) and teens, with options for online or in-person sessions.

I support those who struggle with the feeling that things aren鈥檛 right, who worry something is wrong with them, feel like their relationships don鈥檛 seem to work the way they want to or often feel things are overwhelming.

For those looking for specialised services, whether these are based on diagnosis or your own instinct, I offer support for eating disorders, body image issues and trauma.

My practice additionally welcomes members of the LGBTQ+ community and those identifying as part of marginalised communities. I also offer sessions in German for those who prefer.

If you鈥檙e feeling stuck or you keep having the same thoughts over and over, you're not alone. Making that first step by getting in touch can be one of the hardest and bravest things to do for yourself or the relationships in your life.

Practice description

I work following an integrative modality, which essentially means I integrate multiple types of therapeutic styles. For those who are interested or have had therapy before, the core modalities I draw on in my practice include Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Therapies. I also have additional training in CBT and DBT, as well as trauma therapies.

What this looks like in practice is that therapy takes a collaborative approach. Rather following a set manual, you will often hear me ask 鈥淲hat do you think about this?鈥, 鈥淒oes this make sense to you?鈥 and 鈥淗ow does this way of thinking sound to you?鈥. While this can sound overwhelming at first, it is intended to do 2 core things:

1. Fully Understanding 'What is Going On?'

You鈥檒l get to a place where you are able to answer:

What is happening to me? Why is it happening? Where is it coming from?

2. Knowing What To Do

It鈥檚 especially hard when we reach a place where we feel there is nothing we can do or we don鈥檛 know what it is. The therapy I do aims to empower you and offer you the resources needed so that you don鈥檛 feel this way anymore.

My first session

Especially if you haven鈥檛 done this before, knowing what comes next is key. Here鈥檚 some things I do to make this easier for you:

1. Free Introductory Calls

If you鈥檙e not sure whether therapy is the right thing or you want to learn more, book a free introductory call. You can do this via email at: contact@taminacounselling.com

or call +44 (0)7512802703

These free 15鈥20-minute meetings give us a chance to get to know each other better, for me to understand more of what you鈥檙e looking for and identify how I can support you.

2. Flexible Session Scheduling

We always start with an initial session for you to get a feel of the therapy and if this is the right fit for you.

Therapy can take a weekly format where you choose a timeslot every week/bi-weekly but can also be adapted to your work schedule or to meet the needs of your life.

About me and my therapy practice

I provide specialised therapy for eating disorders, disordered eating or challenges with thoughts around food, your body or body image. Whether you鈥檝e had a formal diagnosis and a long-term recovery journey or this is the first time you鈥檙e thinking of reaching out for support, food freedom and a healthy body image are possible for you.

Every day we are fed information on how to look, act or present ourselves. From endless TikTok videos on diet and health to the advertisements for weight loss drugs, how we look is emphasised in media around us and can certainly make us feel self-conscious. In our daily lives, we may be sensitive to the comments made about others or ourselves and feel constantly monitored. While food plays a major role in our life, thoughts around food, weight or your body shouldn鈥檛 be taking up most of your headspace.

Whether others have shared concerns and pushed you to reach out, you鈥檙e looking for long-term support in your recovery or you simply feel this is starting to become an issue for you, making that first step by getting in touch can be one of the hardest and bravest things to do for yourself.

Practice description

I help people make sense of the things that just don鈥檛 feel right or they feel afraid others can鈥檛 understand. I try to answer the questions that run circles in your mind and help you through what may feel like repetitive and endless cycles.

What that looks like on the outside is that you might find yourself thinking less about food, find yourself able to attend and engage in events you want to and have less thoughts about your body and how you look. You might feel more confident and less scared that things are out of your control.

Following an integrative modality, my London-based practice focuses on two core things:

1. Fully Understanding 'What is Going On?'

You鈥檒l get to a place where you are able to answer:

What is happening to me? Why is happening? Where is it coming from?

2. Knowing What To Do

It鈥檚 hard when we reach a place where we feel there is nothing we can do or we don鈥檛 know what it is. The therapy I do aims to empower you and offer you the resources needed so that you don鈥檛 feel this way anymore.
