About me and my therapy practice
I am Dr Gideon Bakare. I understand that life can present challenges that leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or uncertain about the future. Whether you are facing relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, low self-esteem, spirituality, or major life transitions, you do not have to navigate these experiences alone.
I provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental therapeutic environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. My aim is to help you gain greater self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.
As an experienced integrative counsellor, I believe that every individual is unique. There is no single therapeutic approach that meets everyone's needs. By drawing on a range of evidence-based counselling models and psychological theories, I tailor therapy to suit your personality, circumstances, strengths, and therapeutic goals. Our work together is collaborative, respectful, and focused on helping you move towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.
With many years of experience working with individuals and couples, I have developed a deep understanding of the complexities of relationships, and the challenges people encounter throughout different stages of life. I offer specialist support for couples experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, loss of trust, emotional distance, intimacy concerns, family pressures, and life transitions. My role is not to take sides but to create a balanced and supportive space where both partners can be heard, understood, and empowered to rebuild connection, strengthen communication, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.

About me and my therapy practice
Supervisors are responsible for providing opportunities for their supervisees to discuss any of their practice-related difficulties without blame or unjustified criticism and, when appropriate, to support their supervisees in taking positive actions to resolve those difficulties. I use the Seven-Eyed Supervision Model in collaboration with the Integrative Developmental Model (IDM). I will offer you both authoritative and facilitative interventions. I aim to provide regular and ongoing opportunities to reflect in depth about all aspects of your practice to work as effectively, safely, and ethically as possible. I will provide guidance for CPD if appropriate and will support you in working accurately within your counselling model, in managing your case load with attention to maintaining a healthy work/life balance and challenging any issues that affect you as an individual and that may impact your fitness to practice. I will assess and challenge your counselling practice and relationship with your clients with your wellbeing in mind. I will offer constructive feedback, challenge, and support in a safe place to process your client work.
We will work together to evaluate, plan, and set goals for client work, in accordance with your ethical code of practice. I will take notes and review regularly at 6 monthly intervals to assess the success of the supervision, and to adjust where necessary. We will always maintain a professional supervisor-supervisee relationship, in accordance with the Â鶹Դ´ Code of Ethics and Practice.
