About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor offering face to face, person-centred counselling at the Humber Therapy Centre, Beeston, Nottingham.
I provide a calm, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely and without judgement. My aim is to listen carefully and understand things from your point of view. I am professional and ethical but I also bring myself into the counselling relationship in a way that I hope feels genuine and down to earth.
I see private clients at the Humber Works Therapy Centre is based in Beeston. It is very close to the University of Nottingham, University Park campus and within a short walking distance of bus and tram stops (University Boulevard stop). Parking is available outside the centre or on streets nearby. Rooms are on the ground floor with step free access and there is a reception area to wait in prior to your session.
Practice description
I trust and respect your ability to find your own way to cope with the problems you face. As your counsellor, I won’t advise or tell you what to do. My hope is that, by openly exploring your problems in an accepting space, you can develop deeper self-understanding and build the confidence to make choices about your life that feel right for you.
Sometimes it can be hard to express thoughts and feelings in words, and I am trained and experienced in working therapeutically with art and creative materials, although there is no obligation to work this way.
As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that the counselling relationship we create together is central to healing and growth, and I offer empathy and acceptance to all clients regardless of the problems they present with.
In private practice I work with adults (18+) and have experience working with a variety of issues and differing levels of distress, including loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression, parenting, low-self-esteem, relationship difficulties, challenging childhood experiences, feeling stuck, life changing illness, neurodiversity, discrimination, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, education/work issues, family relationships. I can offer short or long term therapy according to your needs.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation by phone (20 minutes) so feel free to get in touch by text or email and we can arrange an initial chat to talk more about your needs and see whether I am the right counsellor for you.
