About me and my therapy practice

- The greatest gift you can give yourself is to know who you are -

Hello, my name is Lisa and I’m a Person-Centred Therapist.

Person-centred at its heart means that our sessions will be led by you. I focus on how you see the world, rather than make any judgement or analysis.

This allows you to explore issues you may be struggling with, as well as your feelings and behaviours, without fear of judgement.

I completed my post-graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy in 2023, and I’m currently completing my masters, focusing on obsessive compulsive processes.

As a neurodivergent individual who knows what’s it is like to be stigmatised, I am passionate about exploring how such processes develop from a client's lens, and moving away from language which can be pathologising.

I also have a background in private healthcare and so have special experience in helping those who live with stress brought on by caring for others; whether that be for family members or in a paid role.

I aim to be both neuro-affirmative and gender-affirmative in my practice, and areas of speciality include working with neurodivergent and queer identities.

I also work with clients who’ve struggled with anxiety, depression and a history of complex trauma.

- I want to know what life is like for you, not what others say it should be like.

I wish to understand how you, as a unique individual see the world -

Practice description

I offer 60minutes sessions online or via telephone.

This allows you the flexibility to complete sessions from the comfort of your own home.

I currently work online out of my home in Sefton, with the company of my 2 fur ball cats!

In our sessions, you should expect a relaxed space. Whilst therapy can be difficult and challenging, I will always endeavour to create an environment which allows you to unpack your material in a safe and empathic space, fostering your autonomy and self-growth.

My areas of speciality include neurodiversity. This includes related stress and complex trauma.

I have a particular special interest in  obsessive compulsive processes,  as well as related difficulties such as addiction and substance misuse.

I know how difficult it can be to speak about such issues, and I offer a judgement free space in which you can discuss what is going on for you.

- shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces-

My first session

First sessions can sometimes feel abit tricky. Afterall,  it’s the beginning of our therapeutic relationship.

This will be your space to speak about any difficulties you have been struggling with, and we can form an idea of how you would like future sessions to look.

I will also set some time aside in our first session to go over our contract. Our contract forms the basis of our therapeutic alliance and so it’s important you are able to ask any questions.

If what you’ve read so far feels like a good fit, then please get in touch.

However if you’re thinking, maybe I seem like a good match, but I haven’t mentioned something you were looking for, then I also offer a 20minute free telephone consultation. This will give you the opportunity to see if we are compatible.
