Availability
I offer flexible availability as I understand family and work commitments can mean it may be difficult to attend a set time each week.
I currently offer availability on Monday, Wednesday and Friday daytimes and selected weekday evenings.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Verity and I am passionate about helping people feel heard and supported.
I have a bit of a unique background as I completed degrees in Genetics and Biosciences and had a career in research prior to becoming a qualified counsellor. This allows me to gently provide a scientific approach to my sessions alongside the therapeutic techniques I use.
I have experience working with a wide range of clients and issues, however have a particular interest in working with issues related to parenting and relationships, infertility and SEND/neurodiversity.
I have previously counselled parent carers within a SEND school setting and also currently freelance for a perinatal mental health charity. I feel these experiences have equipped me with a skill set well suited to my chosen specialist areas.
Practice description
I currently offer sessions remotely via teams or the telephone. I find this can allow clients to feel more relaxed as they have the freedom to choose their own comfortable location when they attend the sessions.
Also this can work well for clients who need to fit sessions around busy work or family commitments as they don’t need to factor in travel time etc.
I am comfortable and experienced with working with clients with young children in their presence as I understand childcare is not always available.
I work with clients local to East Yorkshire and also nationally.
My first session
In our first session I work with clients to understand the current issues that are problematic in their life. We also review how much the problems are affecting daily life via a questionnaire I will send in advance of the session.
During the initial session we can talk through your hopes and expectations from therapy. Then if you feel comfortable with moving forwards with counselling we use the last part of the session to plan a schedule for this.
