About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Southampton and online across the UK for adults experiencing burnout, anxiety, stress, or a growing sense of disconnection from themselves. You may still be managing life on the surface, meeting expectations and keeping things going, or you may feel that the pressure has already begun to catch up with you. Either way, something inside may begin to feel heavy, relentless, or difficult to carry alone.

Even when you stop, your mind may not. There is little space to reflect, to feel, or to recognise what you need anymore. Life can look fine on the outside while inside you feel drained, flat, or distant from yourself. Many people I work with describe a quiet sense that they have been functioning for a long time, but no longer feel fully connected to themselves or their lives.

I’m Esther Dietrichsen-Farley, a Person-Centred and Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and founder of The Farley. My work is grounded in person-centred therapy, while also drawing on relational understanding and trauma-informed perspectives. This means paying careful attention to each person’s emotional world, patterns of coping, and the meaning their experiences hold for them.

In our sessions there is no pressure to perform or explain yourself neatly. Therapy with me is thoughtful and conversational. We take time to understand what has been building beneath the surface and how it has shaped the way you feel, relate, and move through the world. From there, change tends to emerge naturally as you begin to reconnect with yourself in a deeper and more honest way.
