About me and my therapy practice
My approach to therapy is warm, relational and neuro-affirmative. I believe that every child, young person and adult has their own unique experiences, strengths and ways of understanding the world. Rather than focusing on fixing or changing people, I aim to create a safe, accepting space where they can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I recognise that trust takes time, particularly for those who may have experienced misunderstanding, adversity or challenges in other environments. I work at each client’s pace, adapting sessions to their individual needs and preferences.
For children and young people, I often use creative and play-based approaches alongside talking therapy. This may include art, storytelling, sand tray work, games, imaginative play and therapeutic activities that allow children to express themselves in ways that feel natural and comfortable. I understand that not all children communicate through words, and I value all forms of communication.
My practice is grounded in a neuro-affirmative framework, meaning I celebrate neurodiversity and support autistic and ADHD individuals to better understand themselves, develop self-acceptance and navigate challenges
Alongside my work with neurodivergent children and families, I have extensive experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, individuals experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma and life transitions. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate and collaborative, helping clients identify their strengths, build resilience and develop a greater sense of confidence and self-understanding.
I offer therapy that is tailored to the individual, because no two people are the same. My goal is for every client to feel heard, understood, valued and affirmed throughout their therapeutic journey.
Practice description
Affirmation Therapy provides compassionate, neuro-affirmative therapeutic support for children, young people and adults. Based in Sittingbourne, I offer a safe, welcoming space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.
I have extensive experience working within the NHS, schools, specialist services and domestic abuse services, supporting individuals and families through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Alongside my professional experience, I also bring lived experience of being part of a neurodivergent family, which deepens my understanding of the challenges many children, young people and parents face.
My approach is relational, creative and child-led, recognising that not everyone communicates through words alone. I incorporate play, creativity, sand tray work and therapeutic activities to help children express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe.
I support clients with:
• Autism
• ADHD
• Anxiety
• School distress and emotionally based school avoidance
• Low self-esteem and confidence
• Emotional regulation difficulties
• Friendship and social challenges
• Life transitions and change
• Domestic abuse recovery
• Trauma and emotional wellbeing
• Neurodivergent identity and self-acceptance
I believe therapy is not about fixing people, but about helping them feel understood, valued and empowered. My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, build resilience and develop a greater understanding of themselves.
