About me and my therapy practice

Welcome — and thank you for being here. My name is Kavitha, and I offer a warm, supportive, and confidential space where you can talk openly and be truly heard, without judgement.

I am a qualified counsellor with many years of experience, of counselling adults with a wide range of issues. I work with clients privately and also work as a counsellor for a charity . I am experienced in working with clients with different types of issues, using different tools and counselling models that is suitable and helpful for each individual. I can speak English and Malayalam.

As a British Asian therapist, I understand the complexities of cultural identity, intergenerational pressures, and navigating the stigma that can surround mental health in some communities as I have lived experience. If you're feeling caught between different cultural expectations, or struggling to feel fully seen, I offer a space where all parts of you are welcome. I am also aware these pressures and stigma arise for everybody.

Whether you're feeling anxious, low, stuck, or overwhelmed by life’s demands, therapy can help you gain clarity and move forward. I believe that when we feel safe and supported, we can begin to understand ourselves more deeply and work through the things that are keeping us from living more freely. I have experienced many times, both as a counsellor and personally in therapy, how people begin to feel less burdened and overwhelmed in their life when they feel really heard and accepted without judgement or criticism

I work integratively, which means I draw from different approaches — including person-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt — to respond to your unique needs. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship and will work with you collaboratively at your own pace.

Practice description

Sessions are flexible, starting weekly and adjusting to fortnightly if needed. Please contact me via email , and I aim to respond within 24 hours. Fees are payable by bank transfer.

As a therapist with a diverse background, I offer a compassionate, culturally-aware approach to mental health, understanding the impact of cultural identity, family dynamics, and systemic pressures. I also work with individuals facing personal struggles, cultural challenges, or seeking greater self-awareness, providing a safe and confidential space to explore their unique journey.

In addition to my private practice, I work with a charity, supporting a wide range of clients, including marginalized communities and clients  displaced due to war. I am committed to continuous professional development to ensure the best service for my clients.

I consider my ability to connect with all the clients and to be able to offer a safe and confidential space to them in therapy as my asset. My approach is each person has their unique journey, and my hope is to be a part of the deep exploration and challenges. I'll work with you honouring your unique journey.

Whether you’re facing personal struggles, navigating cultural complexities, or simply seeking greater self-awareness, I’m here to help you discover a way of being that feels right for you.

My first session

I am available for a free 20 minute online or phone consultation, for a chat about what you feel you need from therapy, what I offer as a therapist and also to see if we can both work well together. If we decide to work together, then we can discuss mutually convenient times for our session.

I work in a flexible manner and will always look to arrange sessions at a time that is suitable for both of us. I recommend counselling sessions are held weekly, but can be  reduced to fortnightly, as I am aware that therapy can be expensive and support every 2 weeks is better than holding off entirely. All sessions are booked in and charged as fifty minutes.
