Therapy when you need it.
I offer sessions through the day and on an evening so your work, social and family commitments are not impacted.
If you so not work regular hours, I can be flexible and offer you sessions that work around your shift patterns.
My counselling centre is discrete with on street parking. If you require online counselling, that's no problem.
If you are enquiring about a child, I can sometimes arrange sessions in their school or collage. This can be easier for both you and them, as their education is lessimpacted.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Brian.
Thank you for stopping to read my profile. I'm sorry that you are struggling but pleased you have reached out.
I have been privileged to support children, teens, young people, men and women with their mental health for many years.
Working with clients, supporting them through issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bereavement and many other issues face to face or online has enabled them to gain control of their feelings and heal from their mental health problems.
Everyone's experiences are different, and people respond to different counselling styles and techniques. I use a combination of counselling approaches to help you to resolve your issues.
My main style of counselling is person-centred; this means that supporting you or your loved one in a non-judgemental way, guiding you through your difficult thoughts, emotions and beliefs and helping you out of the difficult place you find yourself in.
We will blend other counselling styles into our sessions. Sometimes will will explore the impact of your 'child voice'. Are you responding to events now because of lessons you learnt that kept you safe in childhood?
As a former Mental Health Lead in a large secondary school, I had far too many conversations with frantic and scared parents who were desperate to find support for their child's mental health.
Waiting lists and high thresholds were barriers to treatment for many children. Now I have the capacity to offer counselling without huge waiting lists and without any diagnosis, the conversations I have with parents now are far more positive, less anxious and lead to quick access to counselling support.
You will decide what topics thoughts and experiences you’d like to explore. We will explore them together, but at a pace which feels manageable for you. If it starts to feel too much, we will take time out. I will help you regain your composure, and in your own time we will go again.
I look forward to working with you or a loved one to help restore peace.

Our Sessions
Choosing a counsellor is an important decision in your recovery. There will be times during your sessions when you are exploring your most difficult and painful experiences. To do this, there needs to be a solid trust, we call a ‘Therapeutic Alliance.’
Only when we are feeling truly understood, supported, not judged and believed, are we able to achieve the level of trust needed to explore our damaging core beliefs and replace unhelpful and often false patterns of thinking with more compassionate.
Some people find discussing difficulties easier than others. I incorporate a lot of creative therapy into my session, such as drawing and talking, emotion cards and sand tray work. This works well for adults, young people and children, as it engages directly with the part of the brain where emotions and core beliefs are stored. These techniques make it easier for you to unpick and untangle harmful thought patterns and replace them with more self-caring feelings.
In our sessions we will aim to feel connected, non-judged, accepted, encouraged and together we will explore your issues in pursuit of recovery from them.
I work to the ethical principles and standards of the Â鶹Դ´, this means that supporting you and your mental health is paramount in our work together.
My first session
The Process.
The first step is to message me with a brief outline of what has led you to seek support.
I will then contact you to arrange a quick chat over the phone, if you are happy to proceed further, we will agree a convenient time to meet for a free counselling assessment.
The Assessment.
During the initial assessment – we will go through things like the reasons for coming to counselling, what you’d like to achieve, previous mental health support, medications etc.
Counselling Agreement.
We will also go through a counselling agreement. This is a mutually agreed document where we will agree how many sessions, time and date, confidentiality of the sessions, ethical boundaries, payment agreement, method of counselling and contact outside of sessions etc.
Working Together.
During our regular sessions, we will meet either face to face in my counselling studio in Bingley or online. The pace and focus of each session will be decided by you. My role is to support you by helping you to explore the experiences, issues and damaging beliefs which are causing you difficulties.
Exploring these, challenging these and changing these leads to healing and regaining control.
I very much look forward to hearing from you, meeting you and working with you.
Thanks for reading.

Supervisor - Bingley
Features
- Flexible hours available
Availability
I am available Monday - Friday and offer Mornings, afternoons and evening sessions face to face in my counselling centre in Bingley or online anywhere in the UK.
I am currently taking on supervisees
About me and my therapy practice
Within our sessions, we will work using the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision. This is a model which looks at seven specific aspects of the triad relationship of Supervision: The Client - The Therapist - The Supervisor.
We will explore:
Who the client is.
Your interventions.
Your relationship with the client.
What's going on for you as you work with this client,
Our professional relationship.
What's going on for me as we work together.
Wider issues.
Regardless of where you are in your counselling career, having a supportive, knowledgeable and non-judgemental supervisor can enhance your skills and ease your worries.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I had a career of over twenty years working in primary and secondary schools supporting the mental health of both students and staff.
Within my own private practice, The Trusted Therapist, I specialise in working with teens and young children as well as men’s mental health. I also am a partner in Bingley Counselling Centre and own ACE Training; a successful training business for people who support children who have experienced abuse and trauma. I am happy to use my experience to help you to help you grow your practice from trainee to qualified therapist to private practice.
Have you considered what you want from a supervisor? Is it just to follow the recommended hours, or are you wanting to expand your skill set and be the best counsellor you can be?
Are you new into this wonderful, but daunting profession and need guidance and support whilst you turn theory into practise?
Are you ambitious and have dreams of making this your full-time business, or even to expand beyond that?
Or are you an experienced counsellor wanting to use supervision to work in a more collaborative style to develop a working relationship with someone who can gently challenge you to improve further?
Irrespective of your experience, ambition or reason for reading my profile, if you'd like to connect to see if we would be able to develop an excellent working alliance.
Practice description
