About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Charlotte. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
I work with adults, children, and young people. I support LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent individuals, and those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and emotional distress.
Life Transitions and Emotional Challenges
Life transitions can feel overwhelming, starting or leaving school, college, or university, changes in work or retirement, moving home, relationship changes, becoming a parent, separation, or divorce. Are you experiencing bullying, difficult friendships, peer comparison, or workload pressures? Anxiety is often at the core of emotion-based school, college, or work avoidance. I support reducing anxiety while building emotional resilience, coping strategies, and communication skills. Therapy offers a safe space to explore past, present, and upcoming changes at a pace that suits you.
I specialise in anxiety, depression, loss, and self-esteem. I am trained and experienced in trauma-informed counselling and have worked extensively with survivors of domestic abuse and individuals affected by current or historical sexual abuse. My previous work in mental health services informs my compassionate and grounded approach.
Qualifications:
BSc (Hons) Psychology
Study of psychological theory, application, for biological psychology, child development, social psychology, counselling psychology, forensic psychology.

Practice description
My Approach
My practice is person-centred, which means you are at the heart of the counselling process.
Areas I Work With
I specialise in supporting individuals experiencing:
• Anxiety and panic
• Depression and low mood
• Low self-esteem and self-worth
• Self-image and confidence issues
• Loss and bereavement
• Identity-related concerns
• Stress and overwhelm
• Work-related difficulties
• Relationship and family challenges
Working with Children and Young People
I work with children and young people around a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, bullying, bereavement, family breakdown, domestic abuse, identity concerns, school-related difficulties, and life transitions. I recognise that young people often express themselves differently from adults, and I adapt my approach to suit their age, developmental stage, and individual needs.
My aim is to offer a safe, supportive space where young people can explore their feelings, build emotional awareness, and develop healthier coping strategies. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents or carers while maintaining the young person’s confidentiality and trust.
Trauma-Informed Practice
I am trained and experienced in trauma-informed counselling and have worked extensively with survivors of domestic abuse and individuals affected by current or historical sexual abuse. My previous work in mental health services has given me a strong understanding of complex emotional difficulties, which informs my compassionate, grounded, and professional approach.
Trauma-informed counselling recognises the effects of trauma on the nervous system, emotional regulation, and sense of safety. I prioritise emotional safety and choice, checking in regularly and ensuring you remain in control of what is explored during sessions.
Therapy can help understand its impact, reduce distress, and rebuild stability and self-trust. You do not need to have all the answers before starting; together, we work to make sense of your experiences over time.
My first session
Initial Consultation
I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute consultation by phone or online. This gives you the opportunity to share what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a sense of how I work. It also allows you to decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
If you choose to proceed, we will agree on a regular day and time for your sessions. Before your first session, you will be sent a counselling agreement outlining confidentiality, cancellations, and payment details.
Therapy Options
I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on your needs and preferences. Some clients come with a specific issue they wish to focus on, while others choose ongoing therapy for deeper exploration and personal development.
Sessions are available either weekly or fortnightly.
