About me and my therapy practice
As my client you would have a safe, trusting and non-judgemental space to share and explore your life story. Together we can work towards understanding any difficulties and bringing change and transformation for a happier life.
How we relate to ourselves and others, affects how we think, feel and function. Looking at your past/present relationships and any behaviour patterns, we can identify any limiting effects.
I believe in the power of a healthy therapeutic relationship and how this can bring strength, to help you find yourself again and ease distress. Giving yourself the time to explore your issues, can be a positive start. You can understand your past better, process your present day more effectively and set goals and strategies for a brighter future. We do this at your own pace, when you are ready.
I worked with Relationships Scotland and have had many clients who went on to thrive and and made positive changes in their life. I use an Integrative therapy approach, allowing me to apply a range of therapies, to ensure that I meet the individual needs of my clients.
I work at Stirling University as a mentor for students. I support my students mental health, skills in management of the impact of their condition or impairment on their academic studies. By helping managing anxiety, developing concentration skills, time management and helping with a more balanced work/social lifestyle. Many of my students have been diagnosed with ADHD, Autisim, anxiety, depression, various mental health conditions and some experiencing family or social issues. This mentoring has been invaluable to many of my students and allowed them to complete their studies in a challenging academic environment, achieving and reaching their full potential. I offer 50 minute mentor sessions for students for £26 per session.
Practice description
I offer 50 minute counselling sessions online via zoom, as well as telephone counselling. I also offer 50 minute mentoring sessions for college/university students on zoom or teams platform.
I recommend an inital telephone consultation and if we decide to go forward with our counselling/mentoring journey, a working agreement and assessment form is provided to be completed, before our first session.
My counselling and mentoring sessions are relaxed and informal, to ensure you feel comfortable and I am happy to be flexible with times and days for appointments.
My first session
After you have made contact by email or phone call, I would offer you a free 20 minute consultation, usually by phone. This allows you to share why you would like to start counselling, what you would like to achieve from it and to discuss emotional issues that you are experiencing.
All of this is confidential. This allows you to learn what I can offer in our counselling sessions and if I can support you. This is a good opportunity for you to ask any questions about my counselling service.
For student mentoring, I arrange an online appointment with the student to discuss the course they are studying, any difficulties they are facing, the support that the university/college is providing and how I could support. The inital meeting is free of charge.
