About me and my therapy practice
My name is Katie Reid, and I am a fully qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´). I offer a humanistic, integrative approach, tailoring our sessions to your unique needs and placing you at the centre of the process.
I aim to provide a compassionate and supportive space where you can explore your emotions, gain insight, and take steps toward meaningful personal growth.
Practice description
In my humanistic counselling practice, I provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Sometimes, simply having dedicated time and space to process what has happened—or is happening—can be a powerful step toward insight, healing, and personal growth.
In our sessions, you are always at the centre of the work. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to guide exploration, foster understanding, and encourage self-acceptance throughout your journey.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is fundamental to meaningful change. That’s why I offer a brief initial conversation before your first appointment, giving you the chance to understand how I work and how therapy might support you.
I have a particular focus on supporting individuals affected by trauma, including survivors of childhood and domestic abuse. My experience includes working at STARS Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services, where I supported clients through their recovery and healing journeys.
My first session
During our first session, we’ll discuss how we’ll work together and complete an initial assessment to gain a clear understanding of your situation and needs. This is a chance to explore your concerns, expectations, and what you hope to achieve through counselling. Feeling comfortable and safe is very important to me, as a trusting relationship is the foundation for effective work together.
Counselling is always tailored to you, but the process often follows these stages:
Assessment – understanding your needs and concerns
Agreeing on a focus – identifying goals for our work together
Interventions and resources – exploring strategies and support that suit you
Evaluation and review – reflecting on progress and adjusting as needed
Ending (termination) – planning for a positive conclusion to our sessions
If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, or would like to attend a few sessions before making a decision, that’s completely fine. You are welcome to move at your own pace.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to qualified counsellors, trainee counsellors, and those working in caring or pastoral professions where relational and emotional support is central to the role.
This includes practitioners in education, faith settings, health and social care, and community organisations. I provide a reflective, collaborative space to support ethical practice, professional development, and emotional wellbeing, whether you are building confidence as a trainee, deepening your clinical work as an experienced counsellor, or seeking thoughtful support alongside a pastoral or caring role.
Practice description
Supervision is guided by the 7-Eyed Model, which helps us explore your work from multiple perspectives—your clients, your interventions, your relationships, your own responses, the supervisory relationship, my reflections, and the wider context—ensuring our sessions are reflective, insightful, and tailored to your professional development.
My first session
In our first supervision session, we will work together to create a collaborative contract. This allows me to understand your goals, priorities, and what you hope to gain from supervision, while setting clear boundaries and expectations.
