About me and my therapy practice

I became a psychotherapist after a long career in the arts. I work with creative people, from all walks of life, who may be living with anxiety, self-doubt, emotional pressure, or difficulties in relationships. Creativity can be a way of coping, offering meaning, absorption, or a place to hold feelings that were hard to express. Over time, these strategies can also create inner pressure, self-criticism, or relational tension.

You might feel as though you’re constantly managing yourself, monitoring what you say, holding emotions in check, or pushing through when something inside feels unsettled or unresolved, often unsure how much of yourself feels safe to show. Even in stable or meaningful relationships, there can be a persistent sense of unease or disconnection.

In therapy, you do not need to arrive with the right words, a neat story, or worry about being too much or not enough. I will stay with you, however difficult things feel, and we will take time to make sense of what is going on together at a pace that feels manageable. My approach is shaped around your individual needs. At times, this may involve finding steadier ways to live with anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional overwhelm in the present. When it feels right, we may also explore how patterns developed and what they reveal about what has mattered or been needed. The aim is understanding, clarity, and increased choice rather than quick fixes or techniques.

Over time, many people notice that self-criticism softens, anxiety becomes more manageable, and relationships feel less fraught. This is not because anything has been forced, but because something has begun to make sense.
