About me and my therapy practice
Hello, if you're here, you may be facing difficult times - perhaps struggling with anxiety, stress, relationships, identity, cultural challenges, depression, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know that seeking support takes courage, and I'm here to help.
I understand that starting counselling can feel daunting. I work to create a warm, safe space where you feel genuinely heard and understood. My approach is client-centred, meaning you lead our sessions and explore what feels most important to you. This ensures our work together reflects your needs, not my assumptions about what might help.
I'm trained in Psychosynthesis, a holistic approach that sees you as a whole person - not defined by your struggles, but as someone with a unique history, present circumstances, and hopes for the future. This perspective helps us understand not just your immediate concerns, but how they connect to your broader life experience and your authentic self.
In our 50-minute sessions, you'll have space to explore whatever feels most pressing. I'll listen actively, ask questions that deepen your self-awareness, and offer non-judgemental support throughout. When it feels helpful, and always with your consent, we might use creative methods like guided visualisation, mindfulness exercises, or reflective writing/drawing to support your exploration.
My role is to walk alongside you as you uncover your inner wisdom and truth. Together, we'll work towards helping you live a life that feels true and meaningful to you. I believe you have the answers within you - my job is to help you access them in a supportive, collaborative relationship.
Whether you're seeking clarity, healing, or simply someone to truly listen, I'm here to support your journey towards greater self-understanding and wellbeing.
Practice description
I offer both online and in-person counselling to ensure therapy is accessible for you. Sessions are 50 minutes weekly, providing the consistency needed for meaningful therapeutic work.
I understand reaching out can feel daunting. When you enquire, I'll respond within three working days. We can then arrange a mutually convenient time to begin our work together.
Before our first session, I'll send you my client agreement form, which clearly outlines practical matters including fees, confidentiality, cancellation policy, and session arrangements. Once you've had time to review and return the signed agreement, we can schedule your first appointment.
I value open communication and encourage you to raise any questions or concerns at any point in our work together. My aim is to make the process of starting counselling as straightforward and comfortable as possible.
I work with adults experiencing various life challenges including anxiety, relationships, depression, identity concerns, and life transitions. My integrative approach draws primarily from psychosynthesis and person-centred therapy, tailored to your individual needs. Sessions typically range from short-term (6-12 sessions) to longer-term work depending on your needs. We'll review our progress regularly to ensure therapy remains helpful.
I'm committed to creating an inclusive, culturally sensitive space. Having lived and worked internationally, I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and understand how culture shapes our experiences and identity.
I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for those experiencing financial hardship - please enquire if this would be helpful.
I maintain professional development through regular supervision and training. I adhere to the Â鶹Դ´ Ethical Framework and am fully insured.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to explore how counselling might support you.
My first session
I understand that first sessions can feel particularly nerve-wracking, so I want you to know what to expect. Our initial meeting is an opportunity for us both to get a sense of whether we can work well together - it's as much about you assessing me as it is about me understanding how I can best support you.
We'll begin by reviewing the client agreement together, ensuring you're comfortable with the practical aspects of our work including confidentiality, boundaries, and session arrangements. Please bring any questions or concerns - no question is too small.
I'll then invite you to share what's brought you to counselling. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There's no pressure to reveal everything immediately - trust takes time to build, and I respect your pace.
To help me understand you more fully, I'll ask about different aspects of your life - your family background, early experiences, education, relationships, work, and current circumstances. This isn't an interrogation but rather a gentle exploration that helps me understand your story. Some clients find this illuminating, whilst others find it emotional. All responses are normal.
This information-gathering often extends beyond the first session. We'll take whatever time is needed. These early sessions lay the foundation for our future work together, helping me understand not just your struggles but also your strengths and what matters most to you.
Throughout this process, I encourage you to ask me questions too. You might want to know about my experience with issues similar to yours, my therapeutic approach, or anything else that would help you feel more comfortable.
By the end of our first session(s), we'll both have a clearer sense of whether we're a good therapeutic match. If we decide to continue, we'll begin regular therapeutic work. If not, I'll do my best to suggest alternative support.
Remember, feeling nervous is entirely normal. I'll do everything I can to help you feel at ease.
