I offer online sessions that are flexible to suit you. Many people find it helpful to have a regular time each week, at least at the beginning of therapy.
About me and my therapy practice
Many people I work with feel stuck in their own heads 鈥 overthinking, anxious, or repeating the same patterns in relationships.
Therapy can help you step back, understand what鈥檚 driving those patterns, and begin to shift them.
You don鈥檛 need to know exactly what to say or where to start 鈥 if you're not the "therapy-type," think of it as a conversation between two people.
You may be experiencing:
- Anxiety, panic attacks or constant overthinking.
- Low self-esteem or harsh inner voice.
- Burnout and feeling you have no direction.
- Feeling disconnected, lonely or losing friendships as life changes.
- The same relationship patterns playing out again and again.
Who I work with
I often work with men who are experiencing anxiety, work stress/burnout or the sense that they 鈥榮hould just get on with it.鈥
I also work with many women who want a space where they can talk openly about anxiety, stress, or relationship difficulties without feeling judged.
Some are also noticing changes in their adult lives 鈥 friendships fading, feeling more isolated than they expected, or wondering how they lost touch with parts of themselves along the way.
I don鈥檛 force models, labels or homework. My approach is practical, thoughtful and honest 鈥 giving you space to unpack thoughts and feelings that may feel messy or difficult to say out loud.
In our sessions, we鈥檒l work together to:
- Untangle what feels heavy or confusing
- Identify what you need (even if you鈥檙e not sure yet)
- Explore the past if it feels relevant.
- Find ways of coping that actually work for you.
My Experience
I鈥檓 a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with experience in a range of organisations, including Mind, Samaritans and the NHS.
Qualifications
PG Dip in Therapeutic Counselling
BSc (Hons) Psychology
Practice description
I work with adults facing issues such as:
- Anxiety and panic attacks - explore your patterns, solutions and ways to feel calmer
- Men鈥檚 mental health - burnout, the stress of keeping it together and loss of friendships.
- Relationship difficulties and breakups
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- LGBTQ+ issues and identity - I work extensively with LGBTQ+ clients - particularly gay men and women. I understand the impact of heteronormativity, shame, body image pressure and identity crisis.
- Childhood trauma and family struggles
- Workplace stress and bullying
Counselling with me can help you ease stress, build resilience, and feel more confident in yourself and your relationships. It鈥檚 about creating lasting change, not just coping day to day.
Sessions are online 鈥 by video, phone, or text 鈥 and we鈥檒l find the format that suits you best. I also offer reduced rates for student counsellors and those on low incomes.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation so you can get a feel for how I work and decide if I鈥檓 the right fit for you. In this call, we鈥檒l talk about what鈥檚 bringing you to therapy and what you鈥檇 like to get out of it.
If you choose to go ahead, we鈥檒l agree on a plan together 鈥 including how often we meet and the practical bits like fees and cancellations. I鈥檒l also ask you to fill out a short form so I can get a clearer sense of your needs before we start.

I offer flexible daytime and evening appointments from my practice in Leeds. Sessions are held in person or online, depending on what suits you best. I also offer reduced rates for student counsellors and those on lower incomes.
About me and my therapy practice
If you鈥檝e tried counselling before and it didn鈥檛 quite work, it may be because the relationship didn鈥檛 feel right. I work in an honest, authentic way because therapy doesn鈥檛 need to feel formal, intimidating, or full of labels.
I鈥檓 a 麻豆原创-registered, qualified therapist who believes the therapeutic relationship comes first. From there, I draw on different counselling approaches depending on what you need 鈥 whether you鈥檙e struggling with anxiety, low mood, identity issues, relationships, or feeling stuck.
My aim is to offer down-to-earth counselling where you can speak openly, be challenged when helpful, and feel understood rather than analysed.
I support people navigating:
- Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and overwhelm
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Men鈥檚 mental health and emotional expression
- LGBTQ+ identity, coming out, and internalised shame
- Relationship difficulties and intimacy
- Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected
Many of my clients come from varied backgrounds and communities across Leeds, and I value the richness of your experience.
Whether you鈥檙e feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to begin, we鈥檒l work together to make sense of what鈥檚 going on and find a way forward that feels right you. Therapy isn鈥檛 just about coping鈥攊t鈥檚 about figuring out what your needs are, exploring patterns you feel don't work for you and finding yourself again.
Practice description
You don鈥檛 need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You just need to be you. Whether you鈥檙e feeling stuck, low, overwhelmed, anxious鈥攐r simply unsure what鈥檚 going on鈥攊t all counts. We all hit those moments.
In our sessions, we鈥檒l work together to:
- Untangle the stuff that feels heavy or confusing
- Identify what you need (even if you鈥檙e not sure yet)
- Explore the past if it feels relevant鈥攔egrets, resentments, or patterns that linger
- Find ways of coping that actually work for you
- Be curious about how you think and feel, and gently challenge what no longer serves you
I don鈥檛 slot you into a therapy model or hand out homework. Instead, we stay curious about what might help. Some sessions might feel lighter, others might go deeper鈥攂ut I鈥檒l be there to guide you and hold the space safely.
You already carry everything you need inside you. Therapy is about finding it, together.

I offer flexible in person and online sessions in Leeds during weekday evenings. This means you can find time for counselling amongst work and other commitments.
Many people find it helpful to have regular times each week, which can make getting into the flow of therapy easier but I never dictate a set amount of sessions.
At the beginning it is useful to be consistent and ideally weekly to establish our focus, but thereafter, the decision on frequency is your call.

I place real importance on the relationship between us. Feeling comfortable, understood, and able to speak freely matters far more than any technique.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Ronnie.
A lot of the men I work with haven鈥檛 spoken openly about how they鈥檙e feeling before. Some have tried counselling and found it too formal or like they had to 鈥減erform鈥 in a certain way.
If you鈥檙e not sure you鈥檙e a 鈥渢herapy-type鈥 person, think of it as a conversation where you can say the things you don鈥檛 say anywhere else 鈥 without being judged, analysed, or rushed.
I often work with men who are:
- dealing with stress, anger, or low mood
- feeling stuck or not like themselves
- struggling in relationships
- bordering on burnout and low on motivation
I place real importance on the relationship between us. Feeling comfortable, understood, and able to speak freely matters more than ticking boxes or following a script.
We鈥檒l get to what鈥檚 actually going on 鈥 not just talk around it.
