About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Ronnie. Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’ve been carrying things on your own for a while. My aim is to provide a down-to-earth, supportive space where you can talk openly and start making sense of what’s happening for you.

I work with adults facing a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, men’s mental health, and questions around sexuality or identity. Often people come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we explore what’s getting in the way and how you can create a life that feels more balanced, confident and true to who you are.

Therapy isn’t only about managing difficulties — it can also give you the chance to grow, build resilience and feel more connected to yourself and others, rather than living under the weight of past experiences.

My Experience

I’m a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with five years’ counselling practice, in a range of organisations such as Mind, Samaritans, the NHS and higher education settings. I’ve worked with people facing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, men’s mental health challenges and issues around identity. These experiences have shaped my straightforward, supportive approach and my belief in the value of honest, open conversations in therapy.

Qualifications

Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

BSc (Hons) Psychology

Practice description

Life’s challenges can leave us feeling stuck, anxious or weighed down by the past. Even events from years ago can shape how we see ourselves and affect our relationships today. Counselling gives you a safe, supportive space to talk things through, understand yourself more fully, and find a way forward.

I work with adults experiencing:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Men’s mental health challenges
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • LGBTQ+ issues and identity
  • Childhood trauma and family struggles
  • Workplace stress and bullying

Counselling with me can help you reduce stress, build resilience, and feel more confident in yourself and your relationships.

Sessions take place in person at my practice in Leeds. I also offer reduced rates for student counsellors and people on low incomes.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ronnie. Therapy doesn’t have to be formal or intimidating.

If you've had counselling before but it didn't feel quite right, that's probably because your counsellor was trying to be someone they're not. I'm always authentic in the room because therapy isn't about me labelling you  - sometimes we laugh, sometimes we sit with hard feelings (probably get a bit sweary) but we always keep it real. Because we can only connect as human when we allow ourselves to be human.

I support people navigating:

  • Anxiety, panic, and overwhelm
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Men’s mental health and emotional expression
  • LGBTQ+ identity, coming out, and internalised shame
  • Relationship difficulties and intimacy
  • Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected

Many of my clients come from varied backgrounds and communities across Leeds, and I value the richness of your experience.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to begin, we’ll work together to make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward that feels true to you. Therapy isn’t just about coping—it’s about figuring out what your needs are, exploring patterns you feel don't work for you and finding yourself again.

Practice description

You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You just need to be you. Whether you’re feeling stuck, low, overwhelmed, anxious—or simply unsure what’s going on—it all counts. We all hit those moments. I’ve had them too.

In our sessions, we’ll work together to:

  • Untangle the stuff that feels heavy or confusing
  • Identify what you need (even if you’re not sure yet)
  • Explore the past if it feels relevant—regrets, resentments, or patterns that linger
  • Find ways of coping that actually work for you
  • Be curious about how you think and feel, and gently challenge what no longer serves you

I don’t slot you into a therapy model or hand out homework. Instead, we stay curious about what might help. Some sessions might feel lighter, others might go deeper—but I’ll be there to guide you and hold the space safely.

You already carry everything you need inside you. Therapy is about finding it, together.

My first session

I’ll also ask you to fill out a short form to help me understand your needs before we begin.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Ronnie and thank you for visiting my profile. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been holding things in for a long time. My role is to offer a safe, straightforward space where you can explore what’s going on for you without judgment.

I work with people who are struggling with a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, men’s mental health, and issues around sexuality and identity. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by the past. Together, we look at what’s holding you back and how you can move towards living in a way that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Working with the right counsellor can help you regain a sense of control and move towards the life you want. Therapy isn’t just about coping with pain or past experiences — it’s also about finding ways to thrive and feel more fulfilled, without being held back by what’s gone before.

My Experience
