About me and my therapy practice
I offer relational therapy based on family systems, working with both young people (10+) and adults. I believe that connection and environment are the most important factors to improving wellbeing and sense of self and so I like to work dynamically and responsively to the needs individuals and their family systems.
As such, when working with young people, I prefer to first have a parent consultation. This enables me to understand both history and present family dynamics with a view to working collaberatively with further reviews as and when necessary. I also offer optional relational sessions between family members as a part of this on-going work to support communication and connection building.
I offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions, face-to-face, online and by telephone.
I offer concessional rates for those who are studying or are struggling to afford therapy. If you wish to discuss this option, please get in touch.
Practice description
I am an integrative therapist with experience working with a broad range of age groups. I have worked with teens extensively, both in group and one to one settings. Creativity is fundamental to my practice, finding unique ways for my clients to express emotions and process life events through writing, painting, creating building coping strategies that support their wellbeing. I have worked with a wide range of presentations; Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Loneliness, SEND, Identity, Insomnia, Family difficiulties, Relational difficulties, Emotional based school avoidance, Bullying, Self harm, Suicidal Ideation, Friendship difficulties, Shame, Childhood Trauma, Sexual Trauma and PTSD
In my Masters degree, I focused on research during the perinatal period and would describe this as an area of expertise. Supporting women in their transition to motherhood, exploring pre and post natal concerns, issues and anxieties is something I feel very passionate about.
I welcome honest feedback and guidance about how I can best support you throguh building in regular reviews of the work to discuss goals, process and elements of the theraputic relationship. I believe that you as the client are best placed to know what you need, my role is to be beside you in that process and enable you to explore your emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
My first session
I do not have a formal assessment process. The first session is an opportunity for me to tell you about how I work, to understand what has bought you to therapy and for us to negotiate a working contract together that best supports you. I will ask some questions to help me to assertain your background, lifestyle and prior experiences with counselling, this will enable me to better understand what your individiual needs are and how I can support you most effectively.
