About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Kerri and I am a psychotherapeutic child counsellor. I run *Little Lighthouse Therapy* in West Sussex, where I work with children and young people aged 4–18.
I understand how worrying it can feel when your child is struggling, and my role is to offer a safe, calm space where they can begin to make sense of their feelings. Sometimes this might happen through talking, but often it is through play, creativity, and gentle exploration. Each child is unique, so I adapt the way I work to fit their needs.
I believe children grow best when they feel safe, supported and truly understood. In my sessions, I create a warm, nurturing space where your child can explore their feelings through play, creativity and gentle conversation. My focus is always on helping them feel accepted, valued, and confident in themselves.
Parents and carers are a vital part of this journey. While I offer your child a private and confidential space, I also work closely with families so that you feel supported too. Together, we can help your child find ways to manage challenges, strengthen their confidence, and feel more at ease in themselves.
My hope is that Little Lighthouse Therapy can provide a guiding light during difficult times – a place where children and families feel held, understood, and hopeful for the future.
Practice description
At Little Lighthouse Therapy, I provide a safe and welcoming space for children and young people aged 4–18 to explore their feelings, worries and experiences. My practice is based at The Clinic at Borde Hill in West Sussex, where I offer one-to-one sessions tailored to each child’s individual needs.
Therapy may look different depending on the age and personality of your child. For younger children, this often involves play, art, and creative expression. For older children and teenagers, sessions may also include talking, reflection and gentle exploration of their thoughts and emotions. The therapy room is designed to be calm and child-friendly, allowing your child to feel secure and comfortable.
Parents and carers are an important part of the process. In the early stages, I will meet with you to understand your child’s background and your concerns. While sessions with your child remain confidential, I keep in touch with you through regular reviews so that we can work together to support your child’s progress.
Alongside my work with children, I also offer dedicated **Parent/Carer Support sessions**. These give you the chance to share your own experiences, worries, and challenges in a supportive space. Together, we can think about how best to support your child, while also focusing on your wellbeing as a parent or carer.
You can expect an approach that is warm, understanding and collaborative. I believe, as Bowlby described, that safe and consistent relationships are at the heart of emotional wellbeing. I aim to provide a therapeutic relationship that helps your child feel accepted and understood, while also supporting you as a parent.
Little Lighthouse Therapy is here to be a guiding light for children and families during challenging times, offering hope, resilience and the chance for positive change.

What to Expect When You Get in Touch
Taking the first step can feel daunting, so our first call is a gentle and friendly conversation. It’s a chance for you to share a little about what’s been happening for your child and for us to think together about the kind of support that might help. There’s no pressure to decide anything — it’s simply an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and see whether Little Lighthouse Therapy feels like the right place for your family.
If you’d like to move forward, we can then arrange an assessment meeting. Before this, I’ll send you a short Initial Enquiry Form to complete. This helps me get a clearer picture of your child’s needs and your hopes as a parent, so that when we meet, we can begin thinking together about the best way forward.
Our First Session
Our first meeting is an assessment session, which lasts around 60 minutes. This is a gentle space for us to talk through the information from your enquiry form, share your concerns, and think together about your child’s history, experiences, and your hopes for therapy.
If you’re coming for parent or carer support, this first session is also your time to talk openly about your own experiences and the challenges you’ve been facing. It’s a safe, non-judgemental space just for you.
By the end of the session, we’ll decide together on the best next step. This might be beginning therapy sessions for your child, arranging parent support sessions with Little Lighthouse Therapy, or, if it feels more suitable, helping you find another form of support for your family.
