About me and my therapy practice
A Personal Reflection
One thought that keeps me grounded each day is:
"The past has shaped us, but it is beyond our control. The future is yet to unfold. The only moment we truly have is the present, and within that moment lies the opportunity for growth, healing and change."
This reminds me to stay present in both my own life and within the therapeutic relationship, meeting each client with openness, compassion and without judgement.
As an Integrative Counsellor, with Person-Centred Therapy at the heart of my practice, I believe you are the expert in your own life. I work alongside you at your pace, adapting therapy to your individual needs and creating a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood and valued.
As a British Indian counsellor, I understand how culture, identity, family values, faith and life experiences can shape our wellbeing. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment.
Alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS as a Senior Maternal Counsellor, specialising in trauma-informed practice and perinatal mental health, supporting people through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
I am also a qualified Couples Therapist, supporting couples experiencing communication difficulties, relationship challenges and life transitions. Together, we explore relationship patterns and develop a shared formulation to guide our work and meet your unique needs.
Counselling has always been more than a profession to me; it is a vocation. I feel privileged to walk alongside my clients during some of life's most difficult moments and find great fulfilment in supporting them as they gain insight, confidence and move towards the life they want for themselves.
Practice description
I offer counselling for adults and couples, either online across the UK or in person from my practice in South Staffordshire.
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including:
* Anxiety and stress
* Depression and low mood
* Low self-esteem and confidence
* Bereavement and grief
* Trauma and the impact of past experiences
* Relationship and family difficulties
* Infertility, miscarriage and pregnancy loss
* Life transitions and personal growth
As an Integrative Counsellor, I believe that every client is unique. There is no single approach that suits everyone, which is why I tailor therapy to your individual needs, experiences and goals. While Person-Centred Therapy is at the heart of my practice, I also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques where appropriate to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate practical therapeutic strategies, including grounding techniques, mindfulness, breathing exercises and coping strategies, to help you manage difficult emotions, reduce anxiety and build resilience. Together, we will explore which approaches feel most helpful for you, empowering you with tools that you can continue to use outside of our sessions.
My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice, recognising the impact that past experiences can have on emotional wellbeing. I work at your pace, creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel respected, listened to and understood.
I take great pride in the work I do and genuinely value every person who places their trust in me. It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients during their therapeutic journey, offering compassion, empathy and support as they explore their experiences and discover their own strengths.
Whatever has brought you to therapy, you do not have to face it alone.
I would be honoured to support you on your journey.
My first session
I understand that taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting, and it's completely natural to feel nervous or uncertain. My priority is to help you feel as comfortable, safe and welcome as possible from the moment we meet.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another.
I offer a FREE NO OBLIGATION 20min INITIAL CONSULTATION by video call or by phone.
In the session I will invite you to share what has brought you to therapy, but there is no pressure to tell me everything straight away. We will go at a pace that feels right for you.
I will explain how I work, answer any questions you may have and discuss confidentiality so that you know what to expect throughout our work together. We'll explore what you would like to gain from therapy, any hopes or concerns you may have, and begin to consider how we can work together in a way that best meets your individual needs.
As we talk, I pay attention not only to your words but also to your emotions and non-verbal communication, helping me to understand your experiences more fully. My role is not to judge or tell you what to do, but to offer a compassionate, supportive and collaborative space where you feel genuinely heard, understood and valued.
There is no expectation for you to have all the answers or know where to begin. You are welcome to come exactly as you are.
Together, we will build a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect and empathy, creating a space where you can explore your experiences safely and work towards the changes that feel meaningful to you.
