About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling disconnected from others or struggling to find your way through life's challenges? Whether you're dealing with relationship difficulties, low confidence, stress and anxiety, or navigating painful life changes like bereavement or relationship breakdown, you don't have to face these struggles alone. Sometimes past experiences keep us feeling stuck, unable to move forward despite wanting things to be different.
I believe everyone has the capacity for growth and healing. In our work together, I'll provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore what's happening for you, understand your patterns, and discover your own strengths. My approach is warm and collaborative - we'll work at your pace to help you rebuild confidence, improve relationships, and rediscover meaning and joy in your life.
Starting therapy takes courage, and finding the right fit is important. I offer a free initial consultation where we can chat about what you're looking for and whether we might work well together. Feel free to email me or visit www.rosiefreeman.co.uk to learn more about how I work.
Practice description
My Approach
Person-centred - I work from a person-centred foundation, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore whatever you're experiencing. Together, we'll help you discover your own inner resources and strengths, so you feel more equipped to navigate life's challenges.
Working with Trauma - For clients dealing with trauma, I draw from a trauma informed approach, which focusses on establishing safety and stabilisation first, and then only looking to processing traumatic memories if and when you feel ready. It is not always necessary or desirable to work with difficult memories, often working in the present moment is enough to start to recover from traumatic experiences and move forward in life. We'll always work at your pace - you're in control of what we explore and when.
Body and Mind Connection - Before becoming a counsellor, I spent twenty years as a shiatsu practitioner and teacher, working holistically with body, mind and environment. This background informs my understanding of how stress affects our nervous system and overall wellbeing. I may incorporate mindfulness and nervous system regulation techniques when helpful, recognising that healing happens through both talking and embodied awareness.
My Experience - I have experience supporting people with chronic health conditions (including HIV and ME/CFS), disability, mental health difficulties, bereavement, anxiety and depression, sexual abuse, childhood trauma, and postnatal depression.
Practical Details - I offer weekly sessions face-to-face or online, typically at the same time each week, though we can discuss what works best for you. I provide a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs and see if we're a good fit. Email me or visit www.rosiefreeman.co.uk to arrange this.
