About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor with an MSc in counselling and psychotherapy. I also have a post-graduate certificate in supervision and supervise other counsellors.
Prior to starting my private practice I worked in a busy NHS Health Centre taking GP referrals.
In my private practice I work with a broad range of client needs just some of which are listed below. Initially, I will work with you to explore what type of therapy feels right for you (I am trained in a number of different approaches). My primary focus is on building a trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel safe to share and explore any issues you wish to bring.
In addition to my private work, I am a counsellor and assessor at the University of Salford Domestic Violence and Abuse Service which supports survivors of domestic abuse, taking referrals from all over the UK.
I have conducted research at the University of Salford which has been accepted and presented at the Â鶹Դ´ international research conference.
Practice description
I practice in a safe comfortable environment with on-site parking and easy access by public transport.
I also work on line either by video-conference or by phone or any mixture that works for you.
My therapeutic sessions are 50 minutes long. My way of working is through building a strong, empathetic and and trusting therapeutic relationship with you to understand your goals and build from there.
I aim to work alongside you in a thoughtful and non-directive way so that you can explore and make sense of your issues and concerns and work towards effecting positive change.
Every client is different in terms of what they bring and how they bring it and I enjoy getting to know every new client and their individual needs.
I am happy to discuss anything you wish to bring in a free introductory call or meeting of up to 30 minutes, so we can decide together whether I am the right therapist for you.
I am flexible in the number and frequency of sessions that I offer so that you can have therapy in a way that suits you.

Availability
I offer supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and other helping professions. My availability is usually flexible depending on workload but I do not work after 6pm or at weekends.
In addition to an MSc in counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Salford I also hold a Post-Graduate Certificate in Supervision in counselling, psychotherapy and helping professions from the same University.
In addition to my counselling and supervision qualifications I have over 25 years experience of mentoring, coaching and performance management in Industry and bring this into my supervision as appropriate.
About me and my therapy practice
My supervision practice is informed by my own therapy training and experience in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Brief Therapy.
In addition to my private practice and NHS experience I also have specialist training in working with survivors of domestic abuse and have conducted and presented research at the Â鶹Դ´ International Research Conference on this subject. I continue to work with clients presenting at the University of Salford Domestic Abuse Service.
My approach to supervision utilizes Hawkins and Shohet's 7 eye model as well as the Page and Wosket cyclical model. I can bring in additional coaching and mentoring models as appropriate.
I aim to create a supportive environment for Supervisees where they feel able to discuss any aspect of their practice or client base. or the context in which they work.
I also like to provide an environment where supervisees can develop their skills and approach and experience constructive challenge to support this.
All my supervisees have a chance to review and comment on the supervisory agreement between us to ensure that expectations on both sides are well aligned.
If all this sounds a bit serious, I do appreciate humour in life and where appropriate, in therapy and supervision. I do believe that supervision should not only be valuable but also enjoyable.
Practice description
I work from home with a comfortable consulting room and off-road parking for clients who would like face-to-face supervision.
As well as face-to-face supervision I also offer online supervision or any combination of the two.
I offer concessionary rates to counselling students requiring supervision and I am committed to completing the required reports and paperwork.
I offer a free 30 minute conversation to any prospective supervisees to ensure that the 'fit' feels right for everyone and to give potential supervisees a chance to ask questions about my practice.
My first session
In addition to the free 30 minute conversation I feel that it is important in the first full session to focus on the supervisory agreement to ensure that expectations are aligned and any special requests around supervision or the nature of the supervisory relationship can be discussed and agreed.
After that, it is about getting to know each other and creating a fun and productive supervisory relationship.
