About me and my therapy practice

My aim is to provide a safe and reflective space to explore relational difficulties, emotional distress and life transitions. I work with both individuals and couples. I draw on my training at Tavistock Relationships, and provide a setting that is inclusive, non-judgemental, and sensitive to the impact of race, gender, sexuality, identity, trauma, and societal systems on our mental health and relationships.

I work from a psychodynamic perspective, which explores how past experiences and unconscious processes influence current feelings, behaviours, and relationships.

This approach can be especially helpful for people who:

  • Feel stuck in recurring patterns or roles within relationships
  • Struggle with trust, vulnerability, or intimacy
  • Are navigating painful ruptures, such as infidelity or separation
  • Are transitioning into or out of parenthood
  • Want to better understand themselves and their emotional responses in close relationships

I understand that it takes time to build trust in therapy and want to create a reliable and open space where people can explore even the most difficult experiences. My style is down-to-earth and collaborative, offering both emotional support and gentle challenge where needed.

Practice description

I offer weekly online and in person sessions of 50 minutes to individuals and couples of all backgrounds. I don’t set a limit on your therapy unless there is a particular reason to do so - we can discuss this if needed. Open-ended therapy doesn't have a predetermined end date, which allows us to work together at a pace that feels comfortable and effective. This approach is particularly beneficial for exploring complex issues, building a strong therapeutic relationship, and fostering long-term growth and self-awareness. Some individuals and couples come for several years and others for a shorter time, depending on what they need. Throughout the therapy we will review progress and discuss when it feels appropriate to end the therapy.

I also offer specialised support to prospective/new parents with a child at the perinatal stage (pregnancy up to 24 months), often working with birth and post-natal trauma as well as non-recent trauma that resurfaces as a result of becoming parents. Couples are encouraged to attend therapy with the baby in the room and supported to think about the bond between the entire family, especially the experience of the baby, and the impact on them of conflict in the relationship and parental state of mind.

My first session

Following a short discovery conversation via email or phone/zoom, I offer an initial consultation, lasting 50 minutes, to discuss your concerns, for us to think together about your situation and if I am the right person to support you at this time. As well as discussing your current circumstances, we will consider your background(s), including some family and relationship histories, in order to get a fuller picture of your situation. The consultation will help us to think about your needs and priorities for ongoing therapy as well as more practical considerations.

Following the initial assessment, if the decision is to proceed with regular therapy, we will agree a mutually convenient time for weekly sessions. These regular sessions are at the same time once a week and last for 50 minutes.

I use Zoom, a secure web-based video platform, to conduct therapy sessions online.
