About me and my therapy practice

You may be feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggling with the lasting impact of difficult experiences. Perhaps you find yourself stuck, questioning your self-worth, or carrying feelings you have managed alone for a long time. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and begin to move towards life with greater clarity and self-understanding.

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist based in Rugby, offering in-person counselling in Warwickshire alongside online and phone counselling across the UK. I have extensive experience supporting adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, emotional dysregulation, identity struggles, and life transitions.

I have particular experience working with trauma and understand how difficult past experiences can continue to affect relationships, confidence, mental health, and the way you experience yourself and others. My approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental. I offer a safe and supportive relationship where you feel able to explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace.

How Can I Help?

I often work with people who are:

  • Experiencing anxiety, stress, or feeling constantly on edge
  • Living with depression, low mood, or emotional exhaustion
  • Struggling with low self-esteem, self-criticism, or self-doubt
  • Feeling emotionally overwhelmed or disconnected
  • Processing feelings of grief or loss
  • Experiencing the ongoing impact of trauma or attachment issues
  • Wanting to understand patterns within relationships
  • Questioning identity, belonging, or sense of self
  • Navigating significant life changes e.g. menopause/ midlife

Together, we can explore the thoughts, feelings, experiences, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, with care and curiosity rather than pressure or judgement. While I cannot change what has happened in your past, therapy can offer a new perspective to enable you to move forward.

Practice description

My Approach

I work in a person-centred way, focusing on understanding your experiences from your perspective, without judgement or expectation. Rather than offering advice or telling you what to do, I provide a supportive therapeutic relationship where you can reflect openly, process your experiences, and find your own way forward.

Building trust and emotional safety is at the heart of my work. I understand that beginning counselling can feel daunting. I offer a warm, grounded space where you can speak openly and feel heard, supported, and accepted.

Specialist Areas

Relationship/family Difficulties

I support individuals experiencing difficulties within relationships, including communication problems, conflict, attachment difficulties, and recurring emotional patterns.

Parents and Carers

Being a parent or carer can feel overwhelming. Your own needs can easily become overlooked. I offer a space where you can step outside of your caring role and focus on your own wellbeing, feelings, and emotional needs.

Life Transitions, Menopause & Midlife

Periods of transition can bring uncertainty, loss, emotional change, and questions about identity or direction. I support clients navigating menopause, midlife, changing relationships and significant life transitions.

Counselling for Men

I offer a relaxed, confidential space for men who may find it difficult to talk about emotions, vulnerability, or personal struggles. We can work at a pace that feels manageable, without pressure or expectation.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I trained at the University of Warwick and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÂ鶹ԭ´´).

Over the past seven years, I have supported adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties.

If my profile resonates with you, please feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation initial phone call to explore whether working together feels right for you.

My first session

Our first session would involve contracting, getting to know each other and discussing what you hope to achieve through working together.  I endeavour to put your mind at ease and help you to feel comfortable in the setting.

If you are ready for counselling but feel unsure about booking with me I welcome the opportunity to have a brief initial phone call to answer any queries, discuss your needs and ascertain whether we would be a good fit for the work you are looking to do.

Availability

I have found that a traumatic event can often spill into many other parts of life, or sometimes lots of difficulties accumulate to cause general overwhelm. Often, the clients I have worked with have experienced life events that have led to anxiety, feeling on edge, depression, irregular sleep patterns, low self-esteem, grief, inner conflict, self-harm, substance misuse, feelings of grief, poor relationships, dis-regulation and self-blame. I have worked with people whose reality has been complicated by experiencing the world through a neurodiverse lens, and others who felt their identity was diminished by their social environments, when society had seemed to prescribe a way of being that did not fit with who they were inside.

Just as we would not expect a plant to grow if it were starved of light, food and water; people cannot thrive if they do not have their practical, safety, love or recognition needs met.

In aspects of life where you might feel dis-empowered, I can support you in navigating your path. Through working together in a relational way, I believe you can change and live an easier and more fulfilling life. The value of being fully and open and honest with an impartial individual cannot be underestimated.

About me and my therapy practice

I work in a online or over the phone in person-centred way, which means I do not see emotional distress as a medical issue, though you may be considering working with me to complement prescribed treatment. I believe our personal response to trauma is all relative in the context of our own lives, and we cannot measure or assume how a person should respond. So I work with the cause, not the symptom. I seek to understand your experiences from your perspective. I have no expectations for who you ought to be or judgments over who you are - I invite you to just be yourself.

I work on the basis that issues often arise when we have been exposed to difficult or unsuitable environments. I think that when conditions are hostile or do not meet our needs, we can lose sight of what we're capable of, what we deserve, and available opportunities. When this happens, it might be overwhelming or make us feel like giving up.

Practice description

I qualified as a person-centred counsellor through the University of Warwick and have been working with adults in Warwickshire as a counsellor/psychotherapist for four years. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners (Â鶹ԭ´´).

My work so far has mainly involved working with trauma clients on a one-to-one and group basis with clients who have experienced rape or sexual abuse. This has provided a wealth of experience as often trauma manifests in many aspects of life.

I have undergone further training in working online, Gestalt practice, cultural and social awareness, attachment, grief, shame, working with groups; and I continually develop my practice in order to enrich your experience in working with me.

My first session

Our first session would involve contracting, getting to know each other and ascertaining what you hope to achieve through working together.

If you are ready for counselling but feel unsure about booking with me I'm happy to answer any queries and have a brief, informal chat to discuss your needs.
