About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm James from Inner Insight Counselling. Are you seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and a clearer path forward? Life's challenges can feel overwhelming, whether they manifest as anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. I'd like to reassure you that there is a space where you can explore these feelings and work towards lasting change. I am passionate about creating that supportive environment for you. Recognising your unique experiences, I practice as an integrative counsellor, which means our sessions will be as individual as you are. Together, we will draw upon a range of therapeutic techniques to build the right approach for you.
I start with the core belief that you already possess the strength for self-discovery, growth, and healing. The foundation of our work is a partnership - a deep therapeutic relationship built to help you feel safe, truly heard, and empowered. This connection is fundamental to making sense of your experiences and building confidence in your own choices. I will hold a space for you to connect with your inner wisdom whilst listening deeply to your story and identity, and to offer both my professional expertise and my genuine humanity.
For those impacted by trauma, I offer Rewind Therapy. This powerful imagery-based technique effectively reduces the distress of traumatic memories, PTSD, and flashbacks, typically in just one or two online or phone sessions, with lasting results and a high success rate (>85%).
The next step is yours to take, whenever you feel ready. If you're ready to talk, I'm ready to listen. Let's embark on your journey of self-discovery, and I'll be by your side to support you.
(Quick note: My email replies sometimes land in junk folders, so please check there if you're waiting to hear back – I usually respond within 24 hours).
Practice description
We’ll embark on a journey together where I follow you along the pathway of your life. You’ll help me understand the pathway we’re walking down, what the surroundings look like, and what the journey feels like.
When we come to any crossroads, we’ll look at what lies ahead – we’ll work towards empowering you to make a decision about which route feels the most comfortable to follow. This might include focussing on how to reframe how you think about approaching the next path in front of you. There will be times when we look back along the path you’ve walked, helping us to make sense of all the twists and turns that has brought you to this point. At times the journey might not make sense, and you might even feel unsure about what choices you have made whilst on your journey.
Others might have accompanied you on the journey until now, with others joining you further along the path. Some of these relationships might help your journey, others might hinder your journey.
Regardless of how long we work together, I hope you’re able to take strength from the experience to help you as you progress along your own path.
Rewind Therapy for trauma
Rewind therapy can be a powerful tool for:
- Reducing emotional distress and flashbacks associated with trauma.
- Regaining a sense of control over your traumatic experiences.
- Promoting a sense of closure and emotional healing.
More details about Rewind Therapy can be found on my website. It outlines how the approach works, and what you can expect from the sessions.
My first session
Session rates are as follows:
- £45 per session for telephone and online counselling for trainee counsellors
- £50 per session for telephone and online counselling
- £55 per session for face-to-face Counselling. These sessions take place at Kent Wellbeing Hub, Farthing Corner, Medway Services, ME8 8PQ
- £65 per session for Rewind Therapy for trauma (online sessions, delivered normally over no more than two sessions to bring about closure for single traumas)
Sessions are 50 minutes long. Counselling can be short-term or long-term. Although most people will have a weekly session, we can discuss whatever frequency works best for you.
Choosing a counsellor can be a difficult process - I offer a free 10 minute introduction call so we can discuss what you're hoping to get from counselling, as well as giving you space to ask any questions. Get in touch for further details.
If contacting me by phone, leave a voicemail with your details and I'll respond as soon as I'm able to. You can also contact by email, text, or WhatsApp.
