I offer flexibility with appointment times, understanding the realties of modern life and its commitments.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamically trained, Registered MÂ鶹ԭ´´ counsellor/ therapist working with individuals and couples. I offer sessions in person, on zoom and on the phone, depending on your requirements and circumstances. I establish warm and understanding relationships with clients, creating a safe space to explore what is bringing them to therapy at this time. I aim to work at the client's pace and in a style that suits them, offering a supportive environment that can at times also be probing and challenging in an effort to encourage and guide clients to effect positive change via greater self-knowledge and understanding.

I have experience working with clients facing life challenges and decisions, general low self esteem, feeling overwhelmed, suffering from anxiety, depression, trying to manage difficult thoughts and feelings, personal and work relational issues, life stage changes, bereavement, marriage/separation/divorce, parenting/step parenting challenges, amongst other things.

I have a commercial professional background having worked as a solicitor and in other non-legal corporate sectors, which help me to understand the challenges of working in a pressured environment.

I am passionate about facilitating my clients' ability to effect positive change and gain greater insight and self-awareness, assisting them in feeling more in control of their lives and emotions, living more consciously and proactively, and ultimately hopefully with more joy.

Practice description

I am trained psychodynamically which means in our work we will explore the past to understand its impact on the present, and bring unconscious processes into awareness. I also use relational/systemic approaches, having trained in Imago Therapy, which looks at patterns in family dynamics, belief systems and interactions. It incorporates Attachment Theory, which looks at how our early relationships, especially with care givers, shape the way we form emotional bonds throughout life. Looking at how they impact relationship patterns, emotional regulation and impact response to conflict or intimacy . Using the appropriate tools to suit the client's needs, the work in therapy is to develop improved self-awareness which in turn builds healthier relationships, effecting positive change.

My first session

Our first session is an assessment, for you and I to get a sense of each other and see if we feel like working together might be a good fit. It takes time to build a trusting relationship, but hopefully in the first session I will get a background and understanding from you as to what your needs are and what you hope to get out the therapy,  and whether I can meet your needs, and you will get a sense of how I work and whether you think working with me might feel right for you. Sometimes it takes a few sessions to get a full sense of each other, but at no point is there a commitment on your part to continue.

The most important part of successful therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist , and my aim is to make you feel safe to talk about issues that are troubling you, and build a trusted connection where you can explore your thoughts and feelings gaining personal deeper insight and effecting positive change .

Availability

I currently have availability to take on new clients, (individuals or couples), working face to face in my consulting rooms or on Zoom. I provide weekly sessions, on an open ended or short term basis.

The length of therapy will depend on your therapeutic goals and types of issues you wish to address. We will discuss this together and agree a way forward.

About me and my therapy practice

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." Carl Jung

I provide an opportunity to share your problems, work through  anxieties and better understand yourself and your responses. Empowering  you to clarify your thoughts and feelings, resolve challenges and ultimately live a more intentional life.

To my mind, therapy is an extremely worthwhile investment in and gift to yourself. It can not only improve your mental health but also empower you to live a more considered, examined life, and therefore a life you feel more in control of, whilst gaining a deeper sense of self awareness and personal strength.

My focus is to facilitate a supportive, professional, confidential, safe, non-judgemental space, in which we together can think, make sense of your feelings and gain better understanding.

This therapeutic relationship can help you develop insight and affect  positive change. Our work  explores patterns of behaviour that may be unhelpful, improving your coping strategies and gaining a sense of calm.

I am a Â鶹ԭ´´ Registered Psychodynamic Therapist/Counsellor. Meaning I am trained to help you uncover unconscious processes, that may be impacting  on your life.

Often past early developmental experiences  and early relationships unknowingly influence our present beliefs and behaviours. Our work together will endeavour to examine these influences and  their impact, enabling you to gain understanding and make better choices.

Therapy can be challenging and at times difficult but its rewards can be powerful. It can provide a great sense of support and relief and result in lasting change.

In addition to my Private Practice, I work as a Therapist with two Mental Health Charities.

Prior to becoming a Therapist I trained as a Solicitor and worked for many years both in the commercial and not for profit sector, gaining experience of the demands of a pressurised work environment and managing relational conflict.

Practice description

I offer long term, open ended therapy and shorter fixed term, often having a more specific focus. Together you and I will consider  what is most appropriate for your requirements.

I have experience working with individuals/couples  with a wide range of issues and from a variety of  backgrounds. So whatever your gender, religion, culture, sexuality or age, I look forward to getting to know who you are and working together to affect positive change in your life.

Sessions are  held weekly and  last 50 minutes, taking place at the same time and place each week.

I offer face to face therapy and online sessions. My consulting rooms are in Finchley, North London.

My first session

I offer an initial free telephone consultation in which we have an informal chat with no obligation. You can discuss your needs and what you are looking to get out of the therapy and ask me any questions you might have about the way I work and the therapeutic process. It affords us both the opportunity to  get an initial sense of each other and for you to decide if you'd like to proceed with arranging a first session at a suitable time.

Following this, if you choose to proceed, our first consultation  session will include a fuller assessment to decide if  we are a good fit and whether I am the right person to help you. We will discuss the terms of the therapy, and our agreement to meet at the same time each week for 50 minutes.

I am a Registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists  (Â鶹ԭ´´) and I abide by the Â鶹ԭ´´ Code. I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, which means I am suitable to work with teenagers and adults in a therapeutic capacity.
