I work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3pm- 7pm (session start time).About me and my therapy practice
I provide a safe, open space for clients to navigate through life's challenges and understand themselves more acutely. We will work collaboratively to understand your goals for therapy and through gentle exploration get you to where you wish to be.
As the world becomes more and more divided, it's imperative to my work as a practitioner that my clients feel comfortable bringing their whole selves into the room without the fear of judgement. I look to facilitate a safe, warm and welcoming space for individuals from all walks of life no matter their circumstances, gender identity, sexual preference, race, religion, class or otherwise.
As Black therapist and a Third Culture Kid I am aware of how identity and intersectionality can contribute to self perception and add layers to the path to healing. If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, relationship issues, complex family dynamics, difficulty in making decisions or low-self esteem, looking at these patterns through this lens can offer a different and valuable perspective.
Practice description
In Person
Sessions are held at Hove Counselling & Psychotherapy on Portland Road. The rooms are easily accessible via public transport links. Please note there is a short flight of stairs to access the rooms
Online
Sessions are held via Zoom and can be conducted from anywhere in the world except the US and CA.
Beyond the standard 50 minute session I offer other solutions for therapy:
1. Single Session Therapy (SST) (90 minutes)
Includes a pre session questionnaire and post session summary.
This approach can be helpful when looking at a specific, focused problem, or decision making. Single session therapy can be highly effective for immediate solutions which can lead to lasting change however they may also highlight a desire for longer-term work.
2. Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) (6x 50 minute sessions)
This approach is a goal-oriented approach emphasising solutions and positive outcomes. Shifting focus from deficits to potential builds self-efficacy and motivation.
Please note: SFT is generally not suitable for issues requiring deep, long-term exploration or crisis management.
To support in the increasing demand for accessible therapy, I set aside a % of affordable slots for individuals who are unable to access therapy at my standard rate.
If this is true for you, do enquire during our initial consultation (please note these may not always be available).
My first session
First sessions can sometimes feel nerve-racking, and it can be hard to know where to start but not to worry - typically, our first session will be gently guided by me as we work through an Initial Assessment.
This gives me an opportunity to get an overview of your story and allows you space to share more specific details on what has brought you to therapy.
