About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Jude and I’m a Â鶹ԭ´´ registered psychodynamic counsellor based in Tunbridge Wells.

We draw on life experiences to work through our every days, and we take life experiences into our future. But sometimes, in the here and now things don't feel right and those past experiences don't seem so helpful. And we ask ourselves why; why do I feel sad or upset? Why do I feel the way the way I do when I am with a particular person or in a certain situation? Why am I the way I am?

I offer you a safe, empathic and non-judgemental therapeutic space to explore those moments when anxiety, mood change or relational dynamics leave you asking those questions that can seem so hard to answer.

Sessions are held in my room in central Tunbridge Wells (close to the station and with free parking nearby).  Our work can be either short or long term basis, depending on your needs.  I have a first career in professional services and understand the challenges of working in the corporate environment, particularly career change, restructuring and redundancy but I work with a wide range of issues which include anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, anger and conflict and trauma, and along side my private practice, I work as a senior counsellor in a local not-for-profit agency and I also mentor trainee counsellors who are taking their first steps in obtaining a qualification.

I practice in accordance with the Â鶹ԭ´´'s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and Professional Conduct Procedure. I also work with a supervisor to ensure I maintain required professional standards and a high level of client care.

Practice description

I offer weekly face to face sessions, held on the same day and time for 50 minutes.

In our sessions, we think together about  past experiences, bringing unconscious thoughts and feelings about them to consciousness through memories and dreams and also in the relationship between us.

Sessions are led by you, and we talk about whatever it is that you want to bring, there is no agenda and you will have time and space to reflect, think, feel and express.  In this way, looking at the past (and present), saying it out loud can enable us to start piecing things together, to join some of the dots and to start making sense of ourselves.

My first session

Starting counselling is a big step and it is important that you feel comfortable with whoever you decide to work with.  Once we have had an initial conversation/text/email exchange,  we would meet for an initial session of up to 90 minutes (at a reduced rate of £45.00) to discuss what brings you to counselling in more detail and see if we both can feel we could both work together.

There is no obligation to proceed beyond this initial session.
