About me and my therapy practice
Neuro-affirming counsellor, late-diagnosed ADHD-er, Autism Parent, and LGBTQIA+ ally, working with identity, ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, RSD, PDA; gender, sexual orientation, self-esteem, depression, anxiety. Offering space to fully be yourself and work through your experience. 121 counselling. Adults 18+. ONLINE COUNSELLING. Please use booking link for a free 15-minute zoom chat.
Hi, I’m Rachel. I appreciate how difficult and nerve-wracking it can feel to take that first step to seek support. So I would like to offer you a space where you can feel comfortable to truly be yourself, without judgement.
It’s really important to find the right counsellor that you can connect with so that you can freely express yourself and get the most from therapy.
I work on a 121 basis with individuals aged 18+ from different backgrounds, on a wide range of sensitive topics such as ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, Rejection Sensitivity (RSD), Demand Avoidance & PDA, LGBTQIA+ issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-harm, life changes, and identity.
To arrange a free 15-minute Zoom chat to answer any questions you might have about working with me, please book .
Practice description
I want you to feel safe to work with me, and I will tailor my approach to what works for you personally. If you have sensory requirements, particular communication needs, you feel more comfortable walking around or fidgeting, then we'll honour that.
You can talk about any topic with me: if it’s important to you it is important. I firmly believe that you are your own expert and I hope to support you as we explore together different ways to bring about any changes you might be looking for.
Whatever your situation I hope to offer you professional counselling without judgement or too much formality.
I provide both short-term and long-term online counselling.
My HR background has provided me with experience and understanding of a range of complex mental health conditions, bullying, harassment, PTSD, Autism, ADHD, AuDHD, Rejection Sensitivity (RSD), Demand Avoidance & PDA, work-related stress, workplace adjustments, LGBTQIA+ issues, and the importance of truly listening to individuals.
My lived experience of my own ADHD and a range of neurodivergent diagnoses of family members has also led to me taking a keen interest in neurodivergence and understanding that one size definitely does not fit all when it comes to counselling.
I firmly believe that you are your own expert and as a Person-Centred counsellor I acknowledge that some traditional counselling methods might not feel effective if not adapted to suit different neurotypes. I approach working with clients from a stance of full acceptance rather than trying to change who you are.
I have been working with clients since 2021, firstly through Mid-Kent MIND, alongside providing support to university students at Rose Bruford Performing Arts College, then in my own Private Practice with individuals since March 2023.
I use a combination of traditional talking, reflection and exploration techniques, alongside therapeutic coaching, neuro-education, and some somatic work.
My first session
As it is so important for you to feel comfortable working with me, I always request you attend an initial, free of charge, 15-minute introductory Zoom session with me.
This gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have, and to get a feel for how we might work together, so you can make an informed decision. It also gives me the opportunity to understand what you are looking for in counselling, and to determine if we could work together, should you wish to do so.
If you decide to go ahead with counselling and book onto our first session, I will explain and send you the various forms and permissions I will require from you to get started, and I will also send you an invoice for the first session.
Our full first session together lasts one hour and provides an opportunity to explore your current situation, what you hope to work on, and your expectations of counselling.
We will discuss and agree ways of working together, and I will carry out an assessment to fully ensure that I can work with the issues you are looking to explore.
We will then set up a regular appointment for future 50-minute sessions.
