About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Nicky, a counsellor supporting mums in St Albans and online.
I’m a fully qualified, Â鶹Դ´ registered counsellor specialising in supporting women through pregnancy, motherhood, and the emotional challenges that can come with this season of life.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or lonely, you’re not alone. Motherhood can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also bring moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, identity shifts and emotional strain. And for some women, it can include the heartbreak and isolation of miscarriage or baby loss.
As a mum, I understand the unique challenges that mothers face. Having experienced postnatal anxiety myself, I know how overwhelming it can feel to question every decision, manage constant worry, or navigate big changes in identity and relationships. I also recognise that for some women, the journey into motherhood can include grief — whether through miscarriage, baby loss, or the complex emotions that can follow.
With over 13 years experience in the mental health sector I have worked with women facing a wide range of experiences, including pregnancy and postnatal anxiety, low mood, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, infant loss, identity changes, and relationship or family concerns. This experience allows me to offer compassionate, specialist support to women at every stage of pregnancy and motherhood — including when that journey has not unfolded as expected.
I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly, explore your feelings, and begin to make sense of what you’re carrying — without judgement or pressure.
Through counselling, we can explore your thoughts and emotions, understand what’s affecting your wellbeing, and find practical, compassionate ways to support your mental health.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor therapy to you as an individual. This means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to support your specific needs - whether you want to explore past experiences, focus on a particular issue like anxiety or loss, or simply have a safe, confidential space where someone really listens.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together. I aim to create a warm, trusting environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that you already have the strength and inner resources needed to move forward, and my role is to help you access that - at your own pace and in a way that feels right for you.
