About me and my therapy practice
Hello I’m Helen. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor registered as an with the Â鶹Դ´ working with individuals aged 18 & over. My face to face practice is based in the Glossop area alongside offering remote therapy sessions to clients across the UK. I believe that understanding and taking care of our mental health and emotional wellbeing is important but I recognise that challenges in life and personal experiences, both in the past & present, can sometimes be difficult to understand , navigate and affect us in different ways. As a therapist , I offer a comfortable non judgemental safe space for you to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I am here to listen, guide and support you towards reaching your unique therapy goals.
Practice description
I have over 25 years experience in the NHS working with young people and adults and I am a fully qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor . I have 2 years experience working as a qualified counsellor with the mental health charity MIND counselling services.
Through my training & experience and by actively listening to your individual needs and circumstances, I offer a variety techniques and approaches to guide and support you to explore your thoughts , feelings and experiences towards your unique therapy aims & goals.
Initially, I offer 8 sessions with a mid point review to see if extended sessions would be of benefit to you.
The length of time for each therapy session is 50 minutes.
My first session
I believe it is important to find the right counselling therapist for clients to feel comfortable and safe towards building a good therapeutic relationship. To support this decision, I offer a free initial 20 minute session to give you the opportunity to share a little more about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions regarding my experience and practice and for us both to see whether working together would be beneficial for you.
This initial session would be held by telephone or zoom and there is no pressure or obligation to book any sessions after this initial conversation.
If you decide that you would like to continue with the therapy sessions, I will send you further information including the counselling therapy agreement and contract. The agreement articulates my responsibilities as a therapeutic counsellor in accordance to the Â鶹Դ´ professional and ethical framework and also the client's agreement towards the counselling relationship and the therapy sessions.
I recognise and understand that the first session may be daunting or overwhelming but I am here to guide and support you at your own pace & time.
