About me and my therapy practice
I offer a thoughtful, relational approach to therapy, grounded in the understanding that our emotional and psychological difficulties are often complex, shaped by our relationships, histories, bodies, and wider social contexts. I work integratively, drawing on psychodynamic, trauma-informed, existential, and somatic perspectives, so that therapy can be responsive to your individual needs rather than based on a fixed model.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a warm, collaborative, and confidential space where you can feel met and understood, and where different aspects of your experience can begin to emerge. Together, we can explore what may be feeling difficult, confusing, or stuck, at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of you.
Our work may involve making sense of current difficulties, as well as exploring patterns that may have developed over time, including those shaped through earlier relationships or significant experiences. Alongside talking, I may also invite an awareness of how emotions and patterns are held in the body, supporting a more integrated understanding of your experience.
I do not believe in a 鈥渙ne-size-fits-all鈥 approach. Some clients come with a specific focus, while others bring a more general sense of unease or disconnection. Wherever you are starting from, we can begin there, working together to better understand your experience and how you relate to yourself and others.
Over time, this process can help to ease distress, support greater emotional awareness, and open up new ways of responding, allowing for change that feels meaningful and lasting.
Practice description
I provide a consistent and confidential setting in which therapy takes place on a regular, weekly basis. Sessions are 50 minutes long, offering a clear structure that can support the work as it develops over time. Some people come with a specific focus in mind, while others begin with a more general sense of difficulty or uncertainty.
My practice is grounded in creating a space that is reliable, thoughtful, and responsive to you. There is no expectation to arrive with a fixed plan; however, where helpful, we can think together about direction, focus, and what you might want from the process. The pace and structure of therapy are shaped collaboratively, balancing openness with a sense of containment.
Over time, sessions may begin to connect different aspects of your experience, allowing patterns or underlying difficulties to become clearer. At times the work may focus on current challenges, while at others it may open into wider questions around relationships, identity, or meaning.
I aim to offer a space that feels steady and containing, where difficult thoughts or feelings can be approached with care. This can support both greater understanding and shifts that feel grounded and sustainable in everyday life
My first session
鈥婭 offer an initial no-obligation 50-minute consultation session, which is designed to allow you to meet me, ask questions and start talking about the issues you are dealing with. It will include an assessment which includes me asking you some questions to gain a deeper understanding your current life and your history. I will discuss my approach and style of working and encourage you to express hopes and any anxieties and expectations you may have of therapy and working together.
鈥婭n this first session, we will also address the practicalities of working together such as payment, scheduling of sessions including my policy on missed sessions, holidays and cancellation.
