About me and my therapy practice
People come to therapy for their own unique reasons - do you have perplexing questions about yourself, are you curious about your responses in everyday encounters or maybe you wonder why you feel like you do? Life is a complex tapestry of experiences and relationships and it can be a challenge to make sense of it all. In our sessions we will work together to create a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship from which to explore in greater depth what is happening with you in the present and past, your hopes for the future and how they all combine. Please don't be concerned if you feel uncertain where to start - we can explore this together. You are at the core of all that we do and we will work at a pace and in the direction that you feel comfortable with. Through our work together we can develop a deeper awareness and understanding of you, the person, and we can gradually see change and personal growth happen.
Practice description
I trained at the University of Edinburgh in person-centred counselling and the psychodynamic approach. I have many years experience as a therapist working with clients experiencing a broad range of life issues. In addition to private client work, I work with young adults experiencing mental health challenges in a higher education setting.
Therapy doesn't have to have a fixed time frame which means that our work is based on what you need and can range from a few sessions to longer term work. Sessions are usually weekly on the same day and time and last for 50 minutes. My practice is located at Dialogue and Space (EH7 5QZ) and we can meet in person or online.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and work within their code of ethics, supervision and continuous personal development requirements.
My first session
I offer a free initial conversation (telephone or video) lasting no longer than 30 minutes. We can take a little time to explore what you would like to bring to therapy and you can ask questions about me and my approach to therapy. There is no obligation to commit to regular sessions after this call - you can take time to consider whether you think that I am the right therapist for you. I might ask you to complete a short CORE-10 questionnaire during this call.
