About me and my therapy practice
I am a Â鶹Դ´ (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered therapist with an MSc in counselling alongside my diploma and much experience working with male and female adult clients who want to make changes in their life.
These include clients who have struggled with navigating their life amongst other relationships, whether that be partners, parents or work colleagues. I have worked with clients who are trapped in old patterns of behaviour from childhood and these patterns are affecting their sense of self and their life.
My work also includes supporting parents with children with additional needs and working together to allow parents to be heard allowing them to navigate life feeling a bit lighter. I have also worked with people who have experienced loss. This work involves allowing space and compassion in the sessions so clients can share the myriad emotions they are feeling without judgement.
My masters dissertation explored the psychological effects of the menopause on women and this features in my client work too. This allows for an holistic approach to therapy encompassing and not hiding all feelings and experiences.
By working together we can unpick patterns and compassionately understand what part they play in the client's life. We can explore what might be helpful to change and what the client can work to accept about themselves.
Outcomes can be seen when people leave therapy feeling confident in making their own decisions, changing aspects of their life, finding it easier to do things that were difficult before or making bigger shifts and fulfilling dreams or ambitions that have been on hold.
As an integrative trained counsellor I work using a range of approaches which match the problems of the client. This could include a psychodynamic approach to unpick difficulties formed from childhood. The core to my practice is working from a person-centred approach which means the client is at the centre of the work.
Practice description
My room for face to face sessions is in Worcester city centre, near to Foregate Street station for clients coming into the city. I also offer counselling sessions via Zoom.
My practice room is warm, comfortable and private providing a safe space to open up and explore your presenting problems.
There is a waiting area in reception where I will come to collect clients for their appointment. There is also a lift if needed.
My first session
After I receive your email, we can book in a half hour assessment session (charged at £25). This gives us a chance to talk through your presenting issues and see if we can work together. It has to be right for you and I need to ensure I am working within my professional competency.
When we have agreed to work together, I will send you a form to collect information that makes up a client profile. This is kept securely and separate from any session notes. I will also send you a contract to read through and sign explaining how we will work together.
