About me and my therapy practice
I'm an integrative therapist with a focus on creating a safe and compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I have extensive experience of working with people who have experienced trauma such as sexual violence, and those who have been negatively impacted by adverse childhood experiences. I feel passionately that therapy can help people find their voice and have witnessed how transformative that can be.
In my practice I strive to work in a way that seeks to reduce, undermine or eliminate discrimination and oppression and remove the barriers that prevent people from accessing services. I believe therapy should be available to everyone and to this end I can offer discretionary rates and online working if required.
I'm a Registered Â鶹Դ´ member and qualified to Diploma level.
Practice description
I work out of therapy rooms in Hove. I will contact you in the first instance and have a chat about what you are hoping to get from counselling and between us we can see if it feels like I'm the right therapist for you.
The length of time we will work together depends upon you and what you feel you need. Sometimes people have a specific goal in mind, and for others it may not feel clear for a while and that's completely fine.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means tailoring the therapy to your particular needs. I focus on creating a trusting relationship to allow you to express yourself fully in the knowledge you will not be judged, and feel seen and heard. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means acknowledging that many people are impacted by trauma, and thus I pay attention to safety and pacing. I can offer gentle techniques to help ground and stabilise, and to process trauma - such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
My first session
In the first instance I will conduct a telephone or online assessment with you, and this is to ensure I am the right therapist for you at this time. This is free. Our first session together will involve talking through how we will work together including looking at confidentiality and safeguarding.
