About me and my therapy practice
The focus of my previous and current careers has always been in supporting people. I believe in the importance of building a good, strong therapeutic and warm relationship with clients.
During sessions we will work together to explore your thoughts and feelings and find a way to enable you to cope and function to feel happier in your life. I will work with you at your chosen pace.
I started my counselling career in 2019 and currently work as a Person-Centred Counsellor registered with the Â鶹Դ´. My approach is underpinned by the humanistic modality of Person-Centred therapy, placing you at the centre of our work together.
During my counselling journey I have worked with trauma, PTSD, anxiety/panic/stress, low self-esteem, low confidence, domestic abuse, support to carers, depression/low mood, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and prevention, and veteran client groups.
Working in a hospice I have worked with bereavement, feelings of loss, clients living with someone who has received a life limiting diagnosis, clients who have a life limiting diagnosis and/or are caring for someone who is receiving palliative care.
I also have experience in stress related conditions and mental health in local authorities, schools and academies and a large engineering organisation.
Practice description
1-1 Online Counselling (Microsoft Teams) - Session 50 minutes
1-1 Telephone Counselling - Session 50 minutes
Online therapy allows you to access counselling within your own safe relaxing space and removes the stress from travelling time, traffic and parking. Remote working can be more flexible, accessible and convenient for clients. I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship we can build online is equally effective as face to face counselling.
It is important for the environment where the sessions take place to have a consistent, private and safe space to ensure confidentiality.
My first session
Initial Assessment - Session 50 minutes - £45
I will ensure you are comfortable and feeling safe in your first session. Many clients find the first session a little unsettling, especially if they have come to counselling for the first time.
The initial session will include pre therapy risk assessments, client agreement, your counselling goals and to start and build our working relationship. I will talk through the boundaries in counselling and confidentiality and provide a safe and ethical service to professional standards.
I will help you to feel safe by helping you to understand the purpose of the therapeutic relationship, know what to expect and to develop a collaborative partnership.
I will give you the time you need and I will help you to feel comfortable, without judgement, to enable you to start sharing your story, in your own space and time.
