About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Tanya, a qualified counsellor accredited with the Â鶹ԭ´´. I offer a safe, confidential space where you can explore whatever is troubling you, at your own pace and without judgement.

I work with adults and children facing challenges such as anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma, and life transitions. My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic models to suit your individual needs. At the heart of my practice is a belief that every person has the capacity for growth and change when given the right support.

Clients often tell me they value my calm, compassionate presence and the way I help them feel understood. Together, we will explore your experiences, identify patterns, and find new ways forward.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are available both in-person in Herne Bay and online. I offer a free initial phone consultation so you can get a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you.

Practice description

Life moves in cycles; moments of endings and beginnings, of letting go and starting anew. Sometimes change feels natural and welcome, and at other times it can feel overwhelming, leaving us holding tightly to pain, fear, anger, hurt, or loss. When these feelings are buried deep inside, they can build up over time and show themselves as emotional pain.

Emotional pain may look like:

  • Persistent negative thoughts
  • Repetitive or unhelpful behaviours
  • Feeling creatively or emotionally blocked
  • Struggles in relationships
  • The weight of trauma or grief
  • A loss of inspiration or vitality
  • Depression or illness
Counselling offers a gentle space to explore these experiences and begin to heal. Together, we can:

  • Revisit and reshape difficult life events to find new meaning
  • Reclaim a sense of control over your story
  • Consciously say goodbye and grieve in ways that reconnect you to life
  • Release resistance and blocks so you can fully embody your present
  • Strengthen self-esteem and align with your personal values and ethics

Counselling is not about erasing your past; it is about finding ways to carry it differently, with more compassion, understanding, and hope for the future.

My first session

First step

We will start with a gentle chat, either by phone or email so you can share a little about what you’re looking for. From there, we can arrange a free pre-session meeting, face to face or online. This gives us both the chance to see how it feels to work together and whether I am the right counsellor for you.

Next step

Before our first full appointment, I will send you a counselling agreement and a short screening form. These are simply tools to help us begin with clarity and understanding. We will go through them together in your first session, so nothing feels overwhelming or rushed.

Ongoing sessions In that first session, we will agree on a number of sessions to start with, usually at the same time each week. This agreement is flexible: it’s a guide, not a rule. You are  free to continue for as long as you feel the work is helpful, and we can bring things to a close whenever you feel ready.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors. I am an interactive, creative Counsellor and Supervisor with a love for the Eastern philosophies and the transpersonal aspects of being human.

Microsoft Teams online and Face to face supervision available.

Practice description

I offer integrative and humanistic supervision for both individuals and groups, supporting qualified counsellors as well as those still in training. My aim is to create a safe, encouraging space where you can bring your client work, explore any concerns, and reflect openly on your practice as a counsellor.

Supervision with me is not just about problem-solving; it is about growth, curiosity, and connection. Together, we can look at the challenges and successes in your work, celebrate your strengths, and gently explore areas that feel more difficult. I see supervision as a collaborative journey, where you are supported to deepen your understanding of yourself, your clients, and the therapeutic process.

I often draw on the Seven-Eyed Supervision Model, which allows us to look at relationships from many different angles between you and your client, between us in supervision, and within the wider context of your work. This model helps us stay inquisitive and reflective, opening up new perspectives and insights that can enrich your practice.

Whether you are seeking guidance as a trainee, or looking for a fresh perspective as an experienced counsellor, supervision with me offers a space to feel heard, supported, and inspired in your professional journey.

My first session

Our first session together is an important starting point. It gives us the chance to get to know each other and explore how we both like to work, so we can see if the relationship feels like a good fit. This is your space to share what you are looking for, how you approach your client work, and what you need from supervision to feel supported.

As we continue, we will have regular check-ins to make sure the supervision is meeting your professional needs. My priority is always to ensure that you feel resourced and confident in your practice, so that your clients are receiving the care and safety they deserve through you.

I aim to keep our conversations open and transparent, so that any challenges can be worked through with honesty and integrity. This creates a safe and trusting environment, not only for the work we do together, but also for when the supervision relationship naturally comes to an end. At that point, there will be space to reflect, acknowledge the journey, and say goodbye in a way that feels respectful and complete.
