About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Caroline.

Getting in touch with a counsellor can feel daunting so let me share a little to try to give you an idea of who I am and what it might be like to come and see me.

My approach is warm and grounded in compassion – especially in moments that feel complex, intense and messy. I’ll listen and actively be with you. Together, we’ll move at your pace through your past and present so you can make sense of what’s happening, connect with parts of yourself that have been unheard, and move toward changes that feel meaningful for you.

I work with children and young people aged 9+ and adults. I have counselled children and young people in schools and mental health services and have counselled adults in a mental health charity. I’ve gained a broad range of experience of working with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, low mood, life changes, childhood trauma, single event trauma, suicide, bereavement and loss. I welcome working short-term on a specific focus or longer term on the deeper work of understanding self.

My job is;

• to be welcoming, open and be responsive to you so you can be comfortable enough to talk to me.

• to support you to understand yourself better

• to help you make sense of whatever is on your mind

• to support you to plan any changes you wish to make

• to speak in plain English.

• to bring expertise and critical thinking

• not to diagnose you.

• not to tell you what to do.
