About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person Centred and Children and Young People's Counsellor who has experience within Further and Higher Education, College, Secondary and Primary schools. As such, I am used to dealing with academic anxiety and educational stress and particularly welcome working with students/pupils. I work with Special Educational Needs and Autism in school and am passionate about understanding youth mental health and promoting inclusivity and access to talking therapy for all.
Having spent a good deal of time in industrial relations, I am also used to clients with work place stress and communication issues.
I offer a client focused space where you have the freedom to reflect and explore your feelings in safety and at your own pace.
As well as counselling for managing anxiety, depression and the everyday stresses of life, I have specialist experience in counselling with clients with:
Neuro Diversity including:
ASC. including Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
ADHD and Dyslexia and Processing issues
Education, Health and Care Plan Work, with Counselling named on Section F
Bereavement and Loss
Children and Young People (predominantly teens)
Dispossession issues
Domestic Violence
Trauma
Lived Experience of Justice and Grooming
Identity issues
My focus is on letting you be you, whilst you are being heard and on ensuring that you remain at the centre of your own story as you shape it. I don’t limit you to one area you can discuss what you need to bring in order to move forwards, you are your own expert.
Practice description
I am an open and non-judgemental practitioner, used to working in a short term and long term way with clients as they see fit or, as contracts dictate. I believe that clients have the power within themselves to find their own solutions and I offer a safe space in which to facilitate this.
Sessions usually last 50 minutes to 1 hour, but, as I work with a range of ages and presentations, I can flex around this in order that sessions benefit you and your wellbeing.
On Fridays, I also use a sensory room and art and crafts based approaches to assist in the creation of a safe space to talk.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute consultation to private clients and work with a variety of assessment tools depending on client presentation.
