About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in. I offer relational counselling and psychotherapy from my own private practice in the Stoke Newington/Highbury area.
As a therapist I am passionate about providing an opportunity for individuals to understand themselves better through sharing their struggles in a safe, non-judgemental environment. The therapeutic relationship enables people to explore the choices they have made and the patterns they may repeat and get stuck in, helping to bring about change and new ways of relating to themselves and others.
My initial training in Oxfordshire, in the Humanist tradition centred around a Gestalt/Person-Centred approach. Following this I trained for 2 years at the Minster Centre, London 'Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice'. A course grounded in attachment theory and contemporary, relational psychoanalysis. I also integrate further trainings, personal interest and practices in the body, embodied movement, breathwork and mindfulness. Together we can be with and learn to observe what the body is holding, our relationship to our bodies and how we can work together to create a deeper more compassionate relationship to ourselves and our bodies.
I have also completed the foundation in Group Analysis with the London School of Group Analysis and have facilitated different kinds of group work over the years.
Practice description
People come to therapy for many reasons: Feeling alone, stuck, confused, struggling with internal or external conflicts, or trying to understand why we make certain 'choices' in life. It may be that we behave in certain ways that confuse us, feel discomfort or trauma in our bodies, or want to find a better way of communicating our needs. Sometimes symptoms such as eating disorders, addictions, depression or anxiety become intolerable and we desire change. There are simply times when we need support, understanding, and independent and non-judgmental guidance.
Therapy can allow for a conversation to take place, to help give space and a voice to some of the suffering. Working together we can be curious, learning to, 'be with', 'feel into' and observe not only the story, but also how we create a meaningful relationship together. Hopefully through being in therapy you will be seeing and interested in a different, freer, fresher perspective of yourself.
