About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I am available for online and email work.

I can therefore work wherever you are based in the UK.

In addition I have an outdoor practice in Wiltshire, UK.

Practice description

I work from a person-centred perspective, placing your needs at the centre of the work we do.

I provide a non-judgmental, empathic and collaborative space for you to bring all that you are struggling with.  Focusing on what is happening for you right now, any patterns in your life that may emerge and how that relates to your current experience (s).

I have a reflective, compassionate, curious style that draws on elements of nature, the transpersonal and your somatic experience to support you in your therapy.

I primarily work with issues around, but not limited to, life stages, motherhood, mother/daughter issues, empty nest, menopause or bereavement ,relationship difficulties or changes, divorce/separation, alcohol use.

I can offer a reduced rate of £35.00 for up to 10 sessions to those that are claiming Carers Allowance or the Carer Element in a UC claim, please do ask. Proof will need to be provided and there maybe a waiting list.

My first session

Initially, I offer a free 15-20 minute call to chat through any questions you might have about counselling, your situation and how I work.

I then suggest you take the time you need to think about whether you would like to work together.

If I decide I am not best suited to work with you, I will advise you during that initial call and help signpost you to other avenues of support.

If we agree to work together we then arrange times and dates for our sessions.

Our first session will be at the prearranged time and we will  have 50 minutes together. If you are late to the sessions they will still end at the agreed time.

We will review towards the end of the 6 weeks to see how and whether we will continue to work together past this, if that is what you wish.

I will give you notice of any holidays or breaks that I have.

About me and my therapy practice

I work outdoors in nature in a local private woodland near Devizes, Westbury and Trowbridge. You are invited to explore all that is happening for you and around you with curiosity to find your authentic path through any difficulties you are facing either current or historical.

Your needs will be central to our work together, and I offer a non-judgemental, empathic and collaborative way of working.

I draw on my integrative training which means I have experienced learning several different therapeutic styles/modalities and I lean into person-centred, psychodynamic and transpersonal ways of working and of course in outdoor counselling, we have the additional support of nature to guide us.

I also have training on how trauma can impact our lives and view my work through a lens of stabilization or grounding, embodiment and integration of mind and body.

I have been training and studying counselling for many years and working with clients for 5 years. I work with a supervisor to ensure I am working ethically and have my clients' needs central to the work.

I regularly take opportunities to further my knowledge through additional training and other resources.

I offer sessions for unpaid carers in receipt of Carers allowance or receiving the element in a Universal credit award at a reduced rate of £35. This is for a maximum agreement of 10 weeks. There may be a waiting list and proof of benefit will be required.

I can offer sessions to trainee counselling students on a CPCAB course at £50 per session.

Practice description

Counselling outdoors is a nurturing way to explore any situations or problems you are experiencing.  There are opportunities to walk, sit still, observe nature or be creative and during the colder months, we can even sit around a fire if we choose!

The woodland is accessible from local towns (Devizes, Westbury, Trowbridge area) with plenty of parking, toilet facilities (compost loo) and shelter if needed. We will always have privacy to ensure confidentiality but please note that the woodland is a rewilding space used by other professionals and groups.

My first session

Whether we work outdoors or in a room or online/email/telephone. I offer an initial free-of-charge telephone call of approx 15 minutes ( we can do this online or via email too).

We will talk about what brings you to seek counselling and I will do my best to answer any questions about counselling, how I work and the general process.

You can then take as much time as you need to make a decision. You do not have to let me know if you do not wish to pursue working with me.

If I do not have the training or feel that I am not the best person to support you I will be honest and clear and will signpost you to another counsellor or an organisation.

If we agree to work together there will be a small amount of paperwork for you to check and complete and we will agree to an initial 6-week contract of weekly sessions at the same time and place each week.

Our first session via whatever medium you choose will be for 50 minutes (or via email 650 words minimum) and we will revisit our initial conversation about what brings you to counselling and discuss some practical matters.
