About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and experienced therapist and a member of the Â鶹Դ´, whose ethical framework I adhere to. I offer short and long term therapy, working with adults aged 18 - 80, counselling trainees and qualified therapists. My practise is non-discriminatory, LGBTQI+ affirmative
I have worked and continue to work with the following: anger, anxiety, ASC, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, trauma, depression, family/relationship issues, fertility, birth stories, illness, mid-life identity, ageing, stress, neuro-diversity, career challenges/redundancy, PMDD, peri-menopause/menopause symptoms.
I hold a post-graduate diploma in counselling from The Wealden Institute. I have a background in education and a PGCE from Brighton University. I have worked as part of the bereavement service at St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing.
Practice description
There are many reasons why people decide to engage with therapy and the experience is unique for everyone. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by your emotions or disconnected from them. It might be that you would like some support to process a life event, or relationship challenges that feel difficult to hold on your own. Perhaps different ‘parts’ of you want different things and that conflict prevents you from moving forward. My role is to listen and hear you fully, working to understand what it is like to be in your shoes. Both my personal and professional experience have taught me that therapy can be transformative, allowing us the freedom to be ourselves and work towards lasting, positive change.
We will work at a pace that suits you and I will support you to develop your self-awareness and offer challenges where it might be useful. My training is integrative, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities including person centred therapy, gestalt, transactional analysis and attachment theory (I will readily explain these approaches in more depth if you would like me to). I have also learned the value of working relationally in the therapy room. This means reflecting on how we interact as two people, which can be a rich seam for exploring how you might then relate to people in your day to day life. In my experience, this can be extremely useful for identifying blind-spots (which we all have) in the way that we engage with other people.
I also work using a sand tray as a creative alternative to a purely dialogical process.

Availability
I am based at New Road Psychotherapy in central Brighton and can offer sand tray sessions Wednesday to Friday from 11am - 6pm, depending on availability. Do get in touch via telephone or email, if you would like to find out more about sand tray therapy.
About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced therapist, I have learned that some clients like to work creatively as part of their counselling journey. Sand tray therapy offers a powerful and alternative means of expression that can produce clear insight into relationships and experiences that can be hard to reach through dialogue alone. In this space, I observe the creative process undertaken by the client and then support their exploration of what is represented in the sand tray.
While sand tray therapy was initially developed for children, research shows that it is equally valuable for adults as a method of externalising life experiences. There is less emphasis on speaking, which can allow for greater connection to and reflection on emotional process.
