Availability
My practice hours are Monday to Friday, 9am鈥3pm. Outside of these times, I am offline and may not be able to respond to messages until I am back in working hours.
I generally check and reply to messages a few times per day and do my best to respond as promptly as possible. At times, it may take a little longer for me to get back to you if I am supporting other clients, in professional commitments, or attending to personal responsibilities. I appreciate your understanding and patience.
If you wish to schedule, reschedule, or cancel a session, I kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours鈥 notice whenever possible.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Shushan. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor offering a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore what鈥檚 on your mind at your own pace.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on different approaches and tailor them to suit you as a unique individual. This means I don鈥檛 believe in a 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥 style of therapy. Instead, I combine methods from Humanistic, Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis approaches.
At the heart of my work is the belief that you already have inner resources and strengths, even if they feel out of reach right now. Together, we can look at patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships, and gently increase your awareness of yourself. This can help you make sense of past experiences, feel more connected to who you are, and move towards the changes you hope for.
Some of the issues I support people with include:
鈥 Anxiety and stress
鈥 Low mood and depression
鈥 Self-esteem and confidence
鈥 Relationship difficulties
鈥 Life transitions and loss
鈥 Trauma and unresolved experiences
I aim to offer a space where you feel safe to be heard and understood without judgment. My role is not to give advice, but to walk alongside you鈥攕upporting you to gain clarity, build self-acceptance, and find new ways of coping.
If you鈥檇 like to learn more or have any questions about starting therapy, please feel free to get in touch. I鈥檇 be happy to hear from you.
Practice description
Sessions offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can talk openly about whatever feels important. Your privacy and trust are central to our work together.
Session Details
鈥 Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at an agreed time.
鈥 I offer sessions online via secure video (Zoom) or by phone, depending on your preference.
鈥 My practice hours are Monday to Friday, 9am鈥3pm. I generally respond to messages within 24 hours during these times.
What We Might Explore
You are welcome to bring any issue to therapy. This could include:
Anxiety, stress, or low mood
Self-confidence and self-worth
Relationship or family concerns
Loss, grief, or change
With over seven years of experience as a psychologist in agency settings, I have provided therapy to both adults and children, helping them navigate a wide range of concerns such as depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Additionally, I have had the privilege of working with international organizations like Save The Children and UNICEF on initiatives focused on child protection and abuse prevention.
My first session
I understand that starting therapy can feel a little daunting, especially if this is your first experience. Here鈥檚 what you can expect from our first session together:
- The first session is an opportunity for you to see whether you feel comfortable and whether I am the right fit for you. There is no obligation to continue if it doesn鈥檛 feel like a good match.
- I鈥檒l begin by introducing myself and explaining how I work as an integrative counsellor. You are welcome to ask me any questions about my approach, confidentiality, or anything else you鈥檇 like to clarify.
- Exploring What Brings You to Counselling
We will talk about what has led you to seek support at this time and what you hope to gain from therapy. There鈥檚 no pressure to share everything right away鈥攖his is simply a chance to begin getting to know each other.
- Taking Some Background Information
I may ask some background questions about your life, health, relationships, and any previous experiences with therapy, so I can understand you in context.
- Agreeing How We Will Work Together
We鈥檒l discuss:
鈥 Session frequency (usually weekly)
鈥 How cancellations are managed
鈥 Boundaries of confidentiality and when I might need to share information (for example, if there is a risk of harm)
鈥 Any goals or hopes you have for therapy
