About me and my therapy practice
Clients (18+) work with me on a variety of issues, including relationships, attachment wounds, lack of meaning and purpose, self-esteem, limiting beliefs, burnout, childhood trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), loss and grief, existential quest, spiritual/transpersonal experiences, and psycho-spiritual integration.
My approach:
I primarily use the person-centred approach, which means I honour you as an individual with your unique experiences and allow you the time and space to explore any issues you may have at your own pace.
When appropriate, I also weave in Internal Family Systems and transpersonal psychology modalities to help you delve deeper into your subconscious mind, where your limiting beliefs and patterns are rooted, and into your superconscious mind, where you may gain a broader, deeper perspective on reality and receive inspiration and insight.
As Albert Einstein stated: 鈥渨e cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them鈥.
I incorporate PSYCH-K庐, an energy psychology modality, into therapy if you would like to work with limiting beliefs and trapped emotions in a time-efficient manner.
My therapeutic style is gentle and nonjudgmental. I endeavour to offer a space where you can feel accepted, nurtured, and supported.
What happens in a therapy session:
You simply express whatever is bothering you. It could be a difficult event in your life, and/or troubling feelings about yourself or others. I will listen to you attentively, working with your feelings, emotions, verbal and nonverbal expressions, and providing feedback when appropriate.
As our work together progresses, you may gain clarity, strength, greater tolerance for difficulties, or enthusiasm for trying something new.
Practice description
My practice:
I specialise in working with deeply rooted thought/emotional patterns.
Difficult feelings/emotions, when processed, may peak before being transformed, leading you to a state of peace, connectedness, and deep understanding.
Please choose a time when you have some emotional resilience and have the patience to stay in therapy for some time until you get what you want out of therapy.
I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions.
Face-to-face therapy takes place at comfortable and confidential premises in Glasgow city centre (near Glasgow Central Station). Online therapy can be conducted anywhere in the UK.
A little bit about my background:
I previously worked in corporate as a project lead in China (primarily Beijing) for nearly 10 years before relocating to the UK, first working freelance and adjusting to the culture, and then retraining as a clinical hypnotherapist and coach, then as a counsellor and psychotherapist, and have been in private practice since. I have a good understanding of work-related issues in different settings.
I studied two postgraduate programmes in the UK and have a good understanding of academic-related issues.
Coming from a different culture and having been here for over 15 years gave me insights into cultural adaptation, multicultural relationships, and intersectionality.
I鈥檓 fascinated by exploring different states of consciousness through practices like meditation. I have an MSc in Transpersonal Psychology (the intersection of spirituality and psychology). For spiritually oriented clients, I can tailor to your preferences and facilitate a holistic therapeutic experience.
I have used therapy at different stages of my life and greatly benefited from it. This experience led me to become a therapist myself.
My first session
Free initial consultation:
As the therapeutic relationship is key to therapy outcomes, I offer a free initial phone/video call of up to 15 minutes to determine whether we are a good match. Please email me to book the consultation and let me know the days/times that suit you.
The practicalities:
If we both feel we are a good fit after the initial call, I will send you a copy of the Counselling Working Agreement with detailed information on confidentiality, data protection, attending/changing sessions, etc. This is for you to read, sign and return to me.
Our first session:
We will jointly establish your intended outcome for the therapy. The number of therapy sessions required can be left open-ended, or we can agree on an initial number to start with.
Towards the end of any agreed term, we can jointly review whether you are ready to end therapy or would like to continue.
