About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Kangli, a qualified and registered Gestalt Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Couple & Relationship Counsellor. I offer counselling for individuals (11+) and couples, either in person, online, or by phone.

I work in a gentle, supportive, and creative way to help you feel more connected to yourself and others. My approach is rooted in Gestalt therapy, which encourages awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and relationships in the present moment. I often use creative techniques to support insight and emotional clarity. I also draw on CBT and Person-Centred tools, and offer trauma-informed support to help you feel safe and not overwhelmed.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. Whether you’re feeling stuck, going through a tough time, or simply want to understand yourself better, I’ll meet you with warmth, care, and respect.

I specialise in:

  • Individuals facing anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, identity questions, low self-esteem, gender, sexuality, or life changes.
  • Couples wanting to improve communication, rebuild trust, or feel closer emotionally. I create a safe space for both partners to feel heard and supported.
  • Neurodivergent clients (ADHD, autism, sensory differences) looking for support with identity, emotions, and everyday challenges.
  • LGBTQ+ clients, with an affirming approach that respects your unique journey.
  • People with long-term health conditions, including chronic illness, pain, or disability.
  • Clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, with deep experience supporting overseas Chinese and wider East and South Asian communities.

As a bilingual therapist (English & Mandarin), I offer culturally sensitive support to people from all walks of life.

I also offer life coaching for those seeking clarity, confidence, or personal growth. Coaching can support you in moving forward, navigating change, or finding deeper alignment in your life.

Practice description

My therapy room is based in a quiet part of Eastleigh, with parking available. I offer in-person, online, and telephone counselling, available for both short-term and long-term support.

Whether you're coming as an individual or a couple, I offer a safe and collaborative space where you can explore what's going on and work towards meaningful change. In couple therapy, I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional and physical intimacy. I support both people in feeling heard and understood, while gently exploring patterns and new ways of relating.

Alongside my work with individuals and couples, I have a special interest in supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. As a bilingual therapist (English & Mandarin), I offer counselling in both languages. Having lived across different countries and cultures, I understand the emotional impact of cultural transitions, identity struggles, and intergenerational dynamics. Whether you're navigating feelings of otherness, adapting to change, or seeking a stronger sense of belonging, I offer a space to explore these experiences with sensitivity and respect.

The name Echo Forest Therapy reflects my belief in the healing power of self-discovery. Like a forest, our inner world can feel vast and complex, but also full of insight, beauty, and peace. I offer a space to listen to what echoes within and find your way forward.

My first session

Depending on availability, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation with no obligation. It’s a chance to talk through what you’re looking for, ask questions, and see if working together feels right for you.

If we decide to go ahead, our first session will include an initial assessment where we explore your concerns, background, and hopes for therapy. Sessions are 50 or 60 minutes for individuals, and 60 or 90 minutes for couples. I usually recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions, but I’m happy to discuss what works best for you. Sessions can take place in person, online, or by phone.
