About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where young adults and adults can talk openly about what they are experiencing and begin to make sense of things that may feel difficult, overwhelming or stuck.
You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout or emotional overwhelm. Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, struggling with boundaries, people-pleasing or repeating relationship patterns you don't fully understand.
As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt my way of working to your individual needs. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. I won't tell you what you should do; instead, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships so you can develop greater self-understanding and make choices that feel right for you.
A particular area of my work is helping clients understand recurring patterns. You may repeatedly choose similar relationships, become anxious when someone becomes distant, withdraw when someone gets close, or put other people's needs before your own. Together, we can explore what may be driving these patterns, where they may have developed and what you want to do differently.
I also work with anxiety, overthinking and low self-esteem, helping you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviours and develop healthier ways of responding.
You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin wherever feels most important to you. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, respected and able to be yourself, without judgement.
Therapy isn't about blaming yourself or others. It is about developing greater awareness, compassion and choice, helping you understand yourself more clearly and move towards the life and relationships you want.
Practice description
Sessions are a confidential, supportive space where you can talk openly about what is happening for you. You don't need to arrive with everything worked out or know exactly what you want to say. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you.
I will listen carefully and help you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I may ask questions to help you see things differently, recognise patterns or understand the connection between what you think, feel and do. At times, I may gently challenge you when this could help you gain greater insight.
Our work is collaborative. I won't tell you what you should do or make decisions for you. Together, we will explore what is happening and what you would like to change. Sessions may focus on current difficulties, relationships, emotional wellbeing, past experiences or recurring patterns.
If something difficult comes up, we will explore it at a pace that feels manageable. You are never expected to share anything before you feel ready.
Where helpful, I may suggest something to notice or reflect on between sessions, such as a recurring thought, feeling or behaviour. This is not formal homework unless you find it useful.
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss what has brought you to therapy and consider what you hope to gain. It is also a chance for you to decide whether you feel comfortable with me and whether my approach feels right for you.
You don't need to tell your whole story straight away. As trust develops, we can work together to understand what you need and identify meaningful ways forward.
My aim is for you to leave sessions with greater self-understanding, awareness and a clearer sense of what you want to do differently.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute informal assessment via Zoom or phone. During this time we will be able to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have.
Sessions are £50 for an hour (weekdays).
I may ask you some questions to help me gain a deeper sense of you and the issues which have brought you into counselling. We can then decide together if I am the right person to help you move forward.
