About me and my therapy practice
🌿 Welcome, my name is Izzy. As a fully qualified integrative relational counsellor, I’m led by you, the individual client. I’m there to meet you where you’re at, and be there with you to explore what you want to. That might be what’s happening for you at the moment, talking about the past, exploring changes for the future, or a mixture of these. My job isn't to have the answers, it's to help you find your own. 🌿
Practice description
I've spent my whole life supporting people with their mental health; through work, with family, and often complete strangers. I've been working in mental health since 2016, and I bring the experiences I've gained over those years to every therapy session.
When we work together, my main focus is making you feel comfortable. I'll listen properly, with compassion and without judgement, so I can understand things from your perspective. It doesn't matter what your starting point is, or even if you're not sure what you want to get out of counselling. We'll figure it out together. And if you already know what you want to work on, we can dive straight in.
I don't take a one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions are always led by you and your needs, but I'll bring in different tools and techniques when they might help; whether that's help building self-compassion, working through unhelpful patterns step-by-step, or finding practical strategies to manage things like OCD, self-harm, or addiction.
I have a degree in Psychology from Leeds University and a Level 7 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction) from Leeds Beckett University. My counselling training was largely centred on the Relational model, a person-centred approach that focuses on your relationships, such as with friends, family, colleagues, yourself and your therapist. Through unhurried exploration and reflection of your thoughts and feelings with a counsellor like me, it is possible to gain real insight into things like your identity and issues you might be facing.
I'm a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´. Based in Leeds, I currently work entirely online and over the phone, so you can access therapy from wherever you are.
My first session
The First Step: A Free Chat
Finding the right therapist for you is important. I offer a free, 15-minute introductory call (by phone or video) so you can see if I'm the right fit. There's no pressure to commit.
This isn't a session or an assessment. It's just a conversation. You can tell me a bit about yourself, and I can answer any questions you have about therapy.
You are welcome to take some time to reflect after our first meeting and let me know if it feels like I am the right counsellor for you, before we book sessions.
If you'd like to go ahead, I'll send over some simple paperwork for you to complete before we begin (if you'd prefer to see the paperwork before our chat, just let me know and I'll send it over.) After that, it's up to you. Just reach out and book your first session whenever you're ready.
If for whatever reason you'd like to just go straight in with an initial session, that's absolutely fine. You can just book the first session instead.
